if i got a sample and i wanna filter something out of the sample how do i go about doing that. i use FL 4. like filter the bass out or drums etc.

BANDPASS Filters(this generic info but it applies to your program too)
LO-PASS-lets nothing but bass thru cuts hi's (hats, vocals, tambourines et) keep the bass
HI-PASS-lets only the hi's thru.....if you know how your car stereo works its the same principle...
somewhere in between you can filter mids.....
Thats basic but your resonance and cutoff can be used along with other FX too.....

I have said this before too, Soundforge has a useful tool called and envelope, you can paint and etch all around a sample (its not an instant tool you have to work with it)to remove things like reverB and other FX and come up with a clean sample or one shot, then re-add your own fx......

Use filters as Eq, dent out a bit of mid for vocals with notch filters for example. HP on percussion loops for more headroom on the two step breaks or whatevers... Wee bitty of reso on dull snare samples.... That kind of stuff...
