The girl was on a morning show the other day. The Kathy Lee one where she co-hosts with the black lady.

She was on there with her Dad. They are nowhere close to as ignore as we assume. I guess she and her friend took their mom's car without permission. They got pulled over and arrested on autotheft charges suspicion. She admitted to having an attitude but her explanation was the cop was talking a lot of shit to her. She kicked off her shoes and he says, "You know that's assault right?"

Then he beat her ass....

My brother and best friends were Correctional Officers and they said people got beat down all the time. Mostly to establish control, not just to be cruel. The problem was guys always wanted to test their principles to see what they could get away with so they always had to tighten dudes up.

Everyone I knew that was an officer has lost their job due to excessive force.

I'm aware this goes on in jails and police stations on a regular basis and guess what, it's illegal. At least it is here and from what Ominous and others have said it seems to be so over there too.

On a personal note: I've worked as a security guard, (aware it's not the same), and copped some really serious abuse on a regular basis, especially from smart arse kids. Goes with the job. I only had to use physical force once and that was when I and other people were in direct danger. Legally police, security, prison officers etc are only entitled to use force when they or others are in direct physical danger from another person's actions. Even then they must use what is termed "appropriate force" not excessive force. That's the law here anyway. If it's different in the states then I'm sure you'll let me know.

Oh yeah, there's only one way you'll be rid of my so called "bad attitude" and "argumentative nature" on this forum. The power lies in your hands.

Well, I'm rather pro-police, so my view is rather biased.

I've had and still have family and friends in law enforcement. They are good cops. But the people put a really ugly tag on all of them. So I'm here to defend them.

Sorry but I have to say, no its not us that put the ugly tag on them, its their corrupt colleagues that get kicks from the power being a policeman provides, and then abuse that power.

People dont hate the police for no reason.
The concept of a policeforce is a good one, but the practice leaves a lot to be desired.
I agree their are some good cops, but it only takes a few bad apples to give them all a bad name.
The whole justice system has become a joke, is it any wonder no one has much respect for it?

No argument there, we got crazy kids here too. I don't know what the answer is. I know prevention would start with decent parenting but as a society....I don't know. A little less respect for authority is a good thing IMO. Don't let the bastards push you around.

i knew this would turn out like this, with people bringing in all type of excuses for paid civil employees who are supposed to uphold a law, even when the law is fucked, and not have thin skin or vindictive attitudes.

only speaking out when someone is shot 50 times or brutally raped with a foreign object doesn't cut it. the environment has to be laid out for that shit to happen and that comes from giving them excuses all the damn time. it's not up to the cops to give a teen an asswhippin'.

and why do people think that asswhippin' from parents work anyways? it's a way to punish and to take your frustrations out on. and there are some parents i wouldn't trust to do that, knowing full well they would go to far.

funny, the cops would've arrested y'all for doing what that guy did and the law wouldn't have excused you because the person you assaulted was lippy, especially if it was a 15 year old girl. some would've beat your ass. i guess that would be justified.

dude should be fired just for the sheer stupidity of being caught on tape. while others make sure to never leave evidence, hell, some just give beatings but never arrest in order to avoid any issues, he expected the brass to never let that shit get out.

it's disturbing that way too many black/latino folk feel the need to not rock the boat. what that means is that some would allow their basic rights in respect to cops be trampled. agreeing to illegal search and seizure, etc all in order to not give them an excuses to fuck you up or arrest you with no probable cause. yup, the environment has been laid out.

anyways, excuses. even when it's 50 shots, etc, some will have excuses for people that agreed to do a duty under certain rules.

Even when the police are acting within the law, they are ridiculed...Yes a few bad apples spoil it for the rest of them..... But when people see police presence, I hear "fucking pigs" or something like that.....when they're just doing their job. Plus the media puts a pretty bad stamp on police as well....they only report when police fuck up (and they are human).....Shit NYPD didn't get nearly as much recognition as FDNY on 9-11. Everyone was concerned about how the firefighters were heroes (and they are). It's a shame.... There are some great cops out there....but no one hears about it....
