Video of Police Beating Released in Washington State

On Friday in Seattle, the King County Sheriff’s Office released video showing a sheriff’s deputy kicking and throwing punches at a 15-year-old girl in police custody, after the deputy was charged with fourth-degree assault in the case and pleaded not guilty.
In the video, taken by a camera in a cell in the SeaTac City Hall last November, the girl can be seen flipping her shoe at the deputy, Paul Schene, who responds by rushing at her, kicking her and forcing her to the floor, where he throws two punches as he kneels on the girl’s back, and then lifts her to her feet by her hair.
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported that the video was released over the objections of Mr. Schene’s lawyer, who claimed “it will inflame public opinion and will severely impact the deputy’s right to a fair trial.” But a judge in Seattle ruled that the recording was a public record and allowed the release. The Associated Press published this copy of the video on YouTube:
The A.P. reports that the girl was arrested during an investigation of a stolen car. She later pleaded not guilty to a charge of taking a motor vehicle without permission.
KOMO television news in Seattle reported that the second deputy seen in the video, who helped handcuff the girl after Mr. Schene forced her to the floor of the holding cell, “was a trainee at the time and is not under investigation.” According to KOMO:
The second deputy said the alleged victim was “real lippy,” calling the deputies names and “basically trying to piss us off.”
The Post-Intelligencer notes that the deputy who was charged in the beating, Mr. Schene, had “killed a mentally ill man” in 2006; the A.P. adds word of an earlier incident as well:
Schene was investigated previously for shooting two people — killing one — in the line of duty in 2002 and 2006. Both times his actions were found to be justified, said Ian Goodhew, prosecutor’s deputy chief of staff.

holy FUCK. a 15 year old girl. those things are still babies. this guy should be removed from the force and charged and do some time. what's his justification? self defense? that's fucking bullshit. all cops know they have power that average people can't fuck with so some of them abuse it. but this is fucked man. she kicked a shoe at them. and he kicks her, punches her, grabs her hair and throws her to the floor, and gets TWO MORE punches in.

Camera or not, the fact is 99% of cops always seem to get minor penalties or none at all for the most abusive/violent behavior... it really shows how fucked up the system is, and even though it's apparent, it's something that is virtually impossible to change... that's the power system for you...

You read the story and you see the guy is a ticking time bomb. He killed someone 3 years ago.
The girl's arms were folded. You are instructed to remove your shoes so she wasn't attacking him. Seems like she just said something that set him off.
That's why I don't give cops a reason.
Someone called the cops on me 2 weekends ago. This white lady thought I was breaking into a car. What I really was doing was.... getting peanuts for one of the kids in our basketball program. My buddy gets kids from the hood and puts them through this program to try and teach them about life and how there is more out there than what you see in the streets. Well, I'm volunteering, on a Sunday, helping the kids. I go outside to get peanuts from the car to help one of the kids, who is hungry because he isn't getting a steady meal besides school lunch... and this lady calls the cops on us because she thought we were breaking into cars.
So.... the cops show up in the gym, pulls me out for questions in front of nothing but white people. Besides myself, and the coaches and the few kids on the court, everyone else is white. So I was pretty embarrassed to get yoked up by the cops.
But I didn't trip.
Because I knew, the cops couldn't wait for me to just give them the reason to beat my ass. When they were done questioning me, they said "thanks for being cooperative." And said right to his face, "I ain't dumb... I know you guys are waiting for me to do something so you have an excuse to fuck me up."
They just laughed.
Like PUG said, it's just one of the by products of power. They know they have it and they know how to abuse it.
man, some Cops just take shit waaayy to far. I wouldn't generalize all of them as this way, but I would say at least 90% of them are cocksuckers from my experiences with them. I've seen first hand the shit they do to people who don't 'cooperate"
and a note to anyone here, don't ever invite cops into your house unless you absolutely have to. My brother had got into some trouble for stealing air conditioners( he was a tweaker at the time.lol) and there happened to be an air conditioner in front of my moms house. I was the only one home, and when I answered the door, they asked some questions, and I explained I was the only one home yada yada yada..... then after that they asked if it was ok that they come in.... me being the nice guy at the time was like... sure, cause I had nothing to hide. So not even a second after I let them in they rushed me and hand cuffed me for "their" protection..... nothing close to getting beat, but they do some shit that's uncalled for.

some kids need to get their ass beat though. i admit the cop was wayyyy out of line but these parents man....they need to keep their kids in check. when me and my brother were younger we used to get our assess beat by our parents for fucking up or talking back. not on no abusive shit either. just a plain ole ass whoopin for being a smart ass.

ok im reposting this from another forum where we were discussing the same vid, when asked why the deputy didn't just shut the door on her:
Grabbing her hair and throwing her down by it was over the line and once they had her face down he had no reason to punch her in the face.
Giving her a command and her not doing it in a timely manner is more than enough reason to up end her ass and let her taste that concrete though. He should have just tackled her bent the fuck out of her arms and let them knees rest in her back awhile...that would have been more than enough.
There's no telling how much mouth they took from her before dude lost it. She looked like the type that would have had mad shit to say and possibly even spit at or near the popo's. If she said or did some foul shit like that I probably would have sent her flying up in the air about 8 feet. I used to work with kids and they will try u at every opportunity because they know there's only so much u can do!

If she was doing what she was told, that is not assault.
If you were talking to a cop, and you said FUCK THE POLICE, you can be arrested for verbal assault, but that doesn't mean you get to kick a girl in the stomach. Good luck on the self defense claim. How can you claim to be defending yourself against someone with their arms folded?

I have been seeing this sort of treatment of SUSPECTS(innocent before proven guilty) shown on TV as if this shit is normal. Granted they aint 15 yr old girls, but the way people not yet convicted of a crime are treated by the police is getting worse all the time.
