thanks man im sendin off my beats to get copyrighted next week as well as join ascap and i knew joinin would b a good move after reading the posts here and on their website but if i cant go to the conferences where the real info is then imma juss let it go but even if u dont go to the conferences u can still submit the demos when they have those types of things set up right??

Right...you don't have to attend the conferences to submitt. I just joined in March..I haven't been to a conference yet...I am down south and I don't have the time to take off work. I still submitt though...

Is there a fee to join ascap?

do u have to have a production company because those look like the guidelines after goin thru their site a little bit more

ASCAP is well worth it if you call yourself a composer, musician or songwriter........yes can register works to get royalties etc....but that association is much more, you get insider exclusives on conferences and events, informative newsletters, links to cats looking for collaborators or songwriters looking for producers and visa versa, then you get pretty good discounts on equipment at certain retailers, they have insurance, I dont know how that part really works because I never used it....but its definitely worth it, you need to have some retail product for sale that you can submit and they can verify, I dont know the exact requirements now but that was how it was back in 2001 when I joined....check the website out though...
