Hey Mate I'm talking anything that was useable as far as a recognizable hit, a lot of good hip hop hits have hinged on an old hit, not saying you can't use a song no one has heard with a nice melody to make a solid banger but honestly I don't know how much hip hop you have listened to but say from like 1988 to now peepz have been flipping samples way before it went worldwide
20 years is a lot of time for diggin sample and ideas.....and trust me theres lots of DJ's that produce too with huge collections of the good shidd, not saying there is a real shortage but what I am saying shidd that is useable for a hot track that everyone recognizes off the bat.......a lot of those hits have gone down in the hip hop hall of fame already my man.....yes there are some left but not as many as you are thinking.....

yo bigdmakintrax, i know what you're sayin', BUT:
the beauty of samples is their flexibility. one can flip a sample numerous times, without getting the same result. there's nothing wrong with reusing samples, as long as you're original.
my five cents mate.
best regards!

I don't see the point. How can u be me when u ain't me. That which I lay is a part of me. My pain, my glory, my tears, my story. Jackers just don't like who they are, so they spend a lot of time tryin to be someone else. And in the process loose themselves.

hey, i know you are trying to wax poetic and all, but..... i think you are wrong on that one rise.

jackers aint tryin to BE you, they are trying to STEAL from you, and make MONEY off you, because those type of cats are in the business to GET PAID, and nothing more. chances are they dont LIKE you, just your tracks. i think you are trying to psychoanalyze a bit too much.

I guess that the music industry is like any other venture of life. You have to take chances in order to progress. There are certain risks involved in just about anything we do. I won't ever say that jacking beats is OK but it seems to be a way in for some people. It even seems to be a way to suceed even after you're in. Whatever the case, my confidence in copyrighting has fallen quit a bit. If copyrighting a beat does any good at all, I can only see the benefits of having something to stand in court with even if its after the fact.

I think DACALION proves an important point:

Here are some things I find that people should keep in mind.

1. Litigation to protect your "copyright" costs a lot of money. Can you afford to protect your "rights?" Most people can't. You automatically lose.

2. YOU ARE BLACKLISTED if you sue a powerful producer or company. If you don't have clout and you sue, consider your career done.

By all means copyright your music, but be careful. There are ways people can get around a copyright by lying, etc.

It's a darker side of the biz. Money and power.

Sincerely,
God

Yeah they are supposed to be creative but you got peeps who want to make a name for themselves at any cost including theft of another producers work.....now this what is so wierd.....low level producers such as myself or a lot of producers on here really shouldn't have to steal tracks(but they do sometimes)...but established producers on deadlines, bonuses and percentaqes to make hits will do anything to turn something that they hear that is hot into a hit.....so the likelihood of getting jacked by an established producer might be greater unfortunately.....
