lol, congrats on the engagement.

anyhow, as far as the fantom x, there have bee a couple posts about it- by myself for one.

this will be the crown jewel of my pc setup, although i decided to wit a month or two to get it. i will be getting the module when i do. i have extensively demo'd this thing and its dope as can be. its the best ALL AROUND module on the market to date that i have seen.

I think a lot of people cant afford it and thats why they dont talk about it. All the equipment i own was bought ussed and broken and i had to either get it fixed or fix it myself.

I think its a nice piece of equipment though. I just dont like roland much. They make some good speakers and i like the SP-303, but i dont think they really aim towards hip-hop much. But if someone was handin out free ones id probly take use it.

The Fantom is Roland's answer to the juggernaut Korg Triton. They are both competing for the same customer, except Roland tried to incorporate the hip-hop crowd with the use of pads much like a mini-MPC.

I'm not all too pleased with the shite JV samples they used. They should probably invest in a new soundbank.

Also, do a search, I think I wrote something about the Fantom series a while back when it came out.

Sincerely,
God

Classic:

If you have an external sequencer, and are just using the Motif as a sound module, then you shouldn't get the Fantom.

These are all popular products fighting for the same consumer:
1. Triton
2. Motif
3. Fantom

I would add the EMU workstation in there, but it's just not marketed in the same way.

Basically, if you have one, I don't think you need the other. With sample technology and the ability to import different drum sounds, etc., I really think having more than one of these products is not useful (unless you do like the sounds.)

I view them mutually exclusive. It's a waste of money to purchase another sound module when you can get the samples of the sounds elsewhere.

Obviously, I like the Triton library better, and the two products offer different sound libraries, but I don't think it is cost effective to get both a Motif and Fantom.

Sincerely,
God

Incog congrats on the engagement.
And yeah da fantom x is the shit. I love it.
I wanna get 1 soon as I get a extra couple thousand dollars.lol. Man when I saw roland had a ill keyboard. With pads and ill sounds. And it had my name ( yes I had the name b4 the fantom series existed- modified way of spellin phantom) I knew I have to get it. I play with it every time I'm in guitar center. Ima strat takin my midisc recorder and makin full beats on it and record em on to my mini disc. Lol. Cause they don't bother u in guitar center.
Yeah believe me if every 1 could afford 1 we would all have and be usin 1.

Oh and class to answer ur question U CAN NEVER HAVE "TOO MANY SOUNDS"

If u can afford to buy it. And don't have no other important thing to do wit the money then BUY IT!!!!!!!! Lol .

Wish I could

So you would have somebody spend more than 1000 dollars to have a similar soundbank, when they can just as easily buy a sample CD's that they can import into their existing module? That doesn't make sense.

If somebody is on the budget, they would care about that. Obviously, if you have money to burn, and like the presets, by all means buy the synth.

I though so. Casue right now i have the motif and it has 2 expansion boards that i havent even looked at yet
I was just curious, how many varitions of a piano sound can you have anyway.

Does anyone else have any reccomneations of modules that would complment the motif??????

class....

class, here is my suggestion.

i think you should invest in a soft sampler and begin to learn the merits of cubase. since you already have the bulk of your sounds on the motif, you can use the soft sampler to incorperate other sounds to your arsenal. this would be the most reasonable route, i think.

anyhow, check your pm.
