Theres a new beat machine coming out in October that looks really promising. Its called the Beat Thang. Check out the link:

http://www.beatkangz.com/

The crazy thing about this company is that they have a software version of it for sale now which will give you a discount on the beat machine when it comes out. Carzy right??

I love beat machines, maybe because im a gear addict! LOL

Tell me your thoughts on this. Have you hear anything about it??

IMO .... I think it is rather cheesy looking .... Looks like somthing from the early 90's ...... My guess would be a big flop ..... How many mpc knock offs will there be ..... They prob should have just stuck to making a vst version and make a quick buck ......

its not an MPC knockoff thats for sure... it's set up like an ASRX, with the buttons of a Korg Electribe, and shaped like an SP606:

Exactly what i was thinking ASR-X ..... But it reminds me of the MC-303 by roland .... Cheesy sounds that they hype up and when u get it ur like awww man this sux ill stick to the other thousand dollar machines i got ...... All the companys keep offering us the same shit just diff boxes and maybe a few new sounds tweeked to sound diff .... But its in the range of the mpc1000 so maybe people will fall into it and use it for a few and let it collect dust ......

wow... i dont see it that way at all... 1st off, i'd really like to know whats a "cheesy" sound? i ask this bcuz ive always heard the RS had cheezy sounds...ive also heard the Triton had cheezy sounds... i know the RS sounds are flat, with no effects on them and the Triton's were overused at one point, but this machine is packin 3000 sounds, and its giving you effects to layer them with (the RS has 1000, and u can also add different fx)... plus a sampler with up to 70min added... i really dont believe EVERY sound will be cheezy, and the fx are there anyway... and it runs on a laptop battery as well... i dont care who gets bored with it, me personally will be rockin this shit on the go... i guess everyone is lookin at it differently, as did i admittedly, but the truth is, they are makin it so ridiculous that its really hard to dismiss and ignore it... the sampler changes the boredom that ur talkin bout... its not a Command Station (MP-7,XL-7), which everyone agrees have some of the dopest sounds but are under used bcuz there isnt a sampler built in... you can never get bored when the machine also has a powerful sampler to use, which this one at least sounds like it has.

Joint looks wickid! Backlit keys are always a plus....allows me to turn off my lights in my studio....I got those office building type lights so you know they draw fire! 3000 sounds is CRAZY even if they're bland a.k.a "cheesy", I like most of my sounds a bit bland anywayz so I can add my own seasoning to them. Get your layer and effects game on and you can work miracles. If the sampler is on point I think this joint can fly......price has to be right as well of course!

yo... i honestly think im too old school for these times... i remember me and my old crew would go to the studio in the mid 80s with a Roland TR707 and a Casio RZ1 drum machine... we took those bcuz they had the song patterns that we had recorded into the machine... the 1st time we did this, we were like, "yo, i hope they got a DMX at the studio so we can lay this same pattern down again." the DMX and the DX were the drums that RUNDMC and others were usin at the time and were at alot of studios... but to track these patterns down again was gonna cost us extra studio time, which we couldnt afford... no prob, bcuz our engineer (chris, i love u fam) simply recorded the machines we had and layered the fx over the sounds, makin simple $300 machines sound like they were worth THOUSANDS!!! thats why i never understood why people these days feel sounds are cheezy... from that day on, i didnt care what the fuck was at the studio bcuz filters and fx are always available for the stuff i brought there... i apply that same philosophy even 2day... i dont believe all of 2days producers do.

now, what intrigues me about the machine is the stuff it has compared to my RS7000... there's alot of comparable stuff, but the battery power and size is why im really gettin it... plus, its just crammed with lots of stuff... to come out at $999 is an eyeraiser... i paid $1500 for my RS in 2002.

I could be full of shit .... lol .... I guess what Im saying is dont we all have somthing that does this already .... Its like buying a new house cause it has a pool in the back yard when u can just add a pool to ur house ... lol ..... We all know how long a laptop battery last 6 months maybe if u use it alot without it pluged in .... Then its gonna cost ur ass another $150 for a new battery

Word Slik, how do people think the "non cheesy" sounds got that way? Them joints got processed and effects thrown in there.

On the real US producers are getting way too lazy...we want everything "ready made". The best way to make a sound your own is to tweak it. Nobody will process a sound or add the same effects. One of the reasons a lot of songs sound so much a like today is because of this. Only a few producers music standout from the crowd. Even those producing in the same genre.

lol... yo, im glad we're actually havin this convo... ive never gotten involved in the computer realm of music... everything i have, from makin the sounds, to trackin them down, is all hardware... and yes, i have machines that does everything all these new machines can do, and im only using 3-4 pieces... but NONE of them are battery powered... everyone buys things for different reasons... i see a few peeps that use the MPC 1000 as the brains of their system... this has the potential to do the same... plus it has enuff inside where this can be ur ONLY machine that ull buy for a long time... u can go from idea to reality to finished product as if it was a keyboard workstation, which is basically what it is, its just in drum machine size.

Yo, this joint is going to be crazy. It just depends on what ya wanna do. For me, I have an mpc 4000, but it rarely gets used now because I've gotten rid of all of my keyboards and modules and moved to ableton live...

For me, there are still times when I want to make music without the computer...being able to have this beat thang sitting there, with my own sounds in it as well as the included sounds is sexy to me lol.

It's portable, and it integrates with the software so if i'm working in the software..I want to take it with me, I just move it to the hardware and finish it there.

I'm pretty excited about this joint, Yo slic thanks for posting that link to the site man :)
