I'm having a little trouble with this one beat, I made it maybe a month ago but just got around to mixing it but now that I listened to it again, I'm not sure if I should keep it and upload it on my page or even keep it on my computer. If you guys aren't feeling a beat you make, do you guys just delete the whole multitrack, keep it on the comp., etc?

I keep everything, every once in while if I am in mid construction I may keep the drum track and delete everything else element wise....usually a drum track that follow some good pattern can be kept, melody may be lacking need more structure etc...I dont dispense of anything I create (wack or not LOL) I am an artist so thats my creedo....

Okay, I'll be keeping it but would you guys put it up on your site for peole to listen if you weren't feeling the beat?

no i wouldn't put on my siter if i didn't like it, but i would keep it still, because say your playing beats for an mc and he/she hears and wants to buy it. sometimes the stuff you dont really like somebody will love.

True man. Appreciate the help man.

Oh and about the showcasing beats to an emcee, how do you do that? Do you let them come over, hand them a CD with some beats on it?

it varies really, if i'm kinda close with them they can come over to my crib, if not i'll meet somewhere, yesterday i went back to my old hood stood on the corner with my boombox and waited for dude to show up. you gotta get out and meet and greet, start getting at mc's at your school, go to open mic's, go up and ask people if they rap when your out anywhere

keep it .. u never know ... i am one of those dudes who deletes beats i gotta stop that shit .... very recently a situation arose where i deleted a beat that someone wanted to buy from a beat cd i put out like 6 months ago .... somehow the cd found its way to ..... and i didnt have the beat.... i had to recreate it .. fortunately i did a good job recreating the track but there are cases where the beat will come out diffrent and maybe worse than the original .... so if the beat doesnt make u throw up keep it ... if its plain horrible then u could prolly delete it .. but remember one mans trash is another mans gold .. shit u did that u dont even like may spark someones interest .. i had to learn the hard way

I rarely delete I just save the stuff to either a floppy or cd or dvd and let it sit.
For every banger there will be four or five crap tracks.
Meeting people at school is a GREAT way to start networking.
You do have to meet and greet to get up get out and do somthing and get ahead.
I dont let many back to the lab though.
Thats a good way to get jacked.
Serious artists that you get a vibe with its no problem but not just everyone who can rap can be trusted.
Back up and save everything its who you are.

i delete anything im not feeling the next day. i think 24 hours is long enough to help me make and objective decision, and i dont want to clutter up my CF cards or my harddrive.

but i only delete things that i really dont like. Its happened to me a few times where ill play someone something i sont really like and theyll want to use it. i hate that, bothers me so much when people want to use beats im not feeling. oh well.
