I remember that whole thing about him talking shit about black women in his rhymes:
Kind of a double standard, huh? But you got Black men in hip-hop doing worse towards "their sistas" than Em did in a few lines. How many times a black person in hip-hop said something derogatory towards white people in their songs or even in their beliefs? How many songs you hear about killing police officers (namely white officers?) It's a double standard and I think it's utter bullshit...
I don't condone any of it, let that be clear. But how is negatively treated differently because of the color of a man's skin? So one is tolerated and the other isn't?
I hope one day Em says "nigga" in a song. Not in a derogatory way, necessarily...But say something like "My nigga came thru..." or something to that effect...I would actually love every second of it. I know a lot of white people who say the N word and it's perfectly fine to fellow african americans.
Of course an explanation to his lyrics wasn't good enough....however it's ok on the other side...
the guy is an artist in a genre of music dominated by black people, associating himself with black artists (Proof was one of his best friends), how can he be racist??
I think that part is just a way for people to discount the white boy from being a great rapper and being placed on the same level as those of a Rakim and Biggie..
IN MY OPINION: I think a lot of the "Pro-black" hip-hop artists/pioneers/whatever want to keep the art as a "black thing".
Em rapped about killing his wife/ex-wife/wife/ex-wife in numerous songs and it's not that serious....
But 2-3 bars about a black woman stirs up the most shit....
This race shit is ridiculous. I'm so fed up with it, honestly.
If a white dude has something to say....let the man say it.....if a black dude has something to say....let the man say it......
If you don't like it, don't buy his shit...End of story. If enough people don't buy their shit, they will switch it up.....
