there is some good info on how to play the bass, especially the part of roots & fifths, and knowing chords. something ive gotten use to figuring out when sampling, figuring out what bass notes to play with my samples.

Take that knowledge and apply it to your mpc or maschine.

I like to 16 levels filtered bass one shots - note on - on my mpc for that dilla like bass sound. Combine that with some bass theory (roots, fifths, chords) and you ogt some ill basslines.

thanks! i thought the same too. I found that site and read all the way through it, i confirmed alot I sort of figured out on my own and taught me some new stuff too. I think for sample based producers there is alot of good info, especially this part: http://www.studybass.com/study-guide/common-bass-patterns/
