Go to
www.copyright.gov and look for a link for copyrighting sound recordings. You have to mail it to the library of congress and i believe the fee is 25$ if it hasnt changed....but there should also be link with directions on it too.
And heres a tip:
Instead of copyrighting only 1 track, you can record everything on cassette (maybe the first couple of loops of each track unless your tracks completely change halfway) and name your works something like "jonny punchline tracks Volume 1" , that way all your songs will be in volume 1 and you will save your resources.
Now ive heard about mailing yourself your works and not opening the envelop but after talking to certain people that work in this field, I've found that this method will not hold up in court.
