Ok let me understand this right that you have been inserting a drum loop in track 1 and muting it for a basic timing signature! Why would you do that at all when you could just go to view and select> time window! and if you want hear what your tempo is going to sound like then you can always turn your metronome on
by going to options> metronome.

Might of not completely understood this question cause it seem pretty vague. Maybe a better explanation of what your trying to acheive would be best! peace

Hey,

If you right-click on the time ruler, you can choose Bars and Beats, then adjust the session tempo to match the tempo of your audio files. If you turn your audio files into loops (like in Acid), they will stretch to match the session tempo.

Take care,

Nick

Hey vitamin man. How do you "adjust the session tempo to match the tempo of your audio files."? Could you give me a little more detail. I know this will help me tremendously.
Thanx

Hey!
I have some more questions about cep and its multitrack view.
Since I want everything to be organized it would be nice to insert or delete channels. Especially when an mc decides to add another backup track after the chorus and the other mcs haven been recorded things are getting out of controll and difficult to overview. In FL you can insert channels in the playlist and I hope/think you can do that in CEP too.
Vitaminman, help me out please ;-)

Hey,

If I understand your question, you want to add or remove tracks...

CEP has a fixed amount of 128 tracks and you cannot add or remove them. What you can do in version 2.1 is move tracks by right clicking on the track controls (the area with the M/S/R buttons) and dragging them up or down. If let's say you have a vocal on track 4 and drums on track 5, and you want to place another vocal track inbetween those two, simply drag track 6 up one level and you can record into that.

I hope this helps.

Take care,

Nick

PS: You CANNOT do this in version 2.0, the programmers for some odd reason left this feature out.

Vitaminman, you´re the man. Thanks a lot!
Wonderful. Cool Edit constantly developes to be my favorite recording and sample editing application.
So one more question. Can I minimize channels? This would be nice, since I´m on a 17" monitor and for more complex sessions this feature would be very nice.

Hey,

Once again, CEP comes through like Juventus...:D

You want to shrink the tracks? Unfortunately there is only a global minimize function, you can do it by either dragging the EDGE of the vertical green navigation bar on the side of the tracks, or you can hold ctrl and move the wheel on your mouse (if you have such a mouse). There is also a keyboard shortcut, alt+arrow up or down.

Take care,

Nick
