I think we're talking 1st tier classics. If we're going to break it all the way down to regions, city's, Burroughs and hoods the "what's a classic and what's not a classic" can go on and on and on and on.

Hmmm..interesting question.
A lot of classics don't get money. To me Marley Marl has a lot of them. But, he didn't get paid...
I would rather take the Pharrell approach. Make some hot shit and be on every station..heavy rotation=money. In the end, that makes you a classic producer with an incrdible discography.

We do this for the love...but since it's so commercialized now...we should do it for the money too...it's hard for the love to keep ya motivated sometimes. When u can look at the bank statement and say "OK..I'm gettin money" that should motivate u to make hotter shit to get more money. (Duhh?)

ain't that obvious fellas?

You make it sound so easy. there are MILLIONS of producers chasin that 1 placement for payment, much less a hit that'll get you REALLY paid. I still feel: do you have your own identity, build fan base, your shit will be classik to them.

Nope..just keepin it gutta...u are right too about what u said but the shit is easy IN THEORY...Application is where u have to be on top of ur shit to make it pop.

I'm currently working on solo joints for 2 seperate artists and probobly 6 to 8 tracks on another one. My whole thing is to try and create an original sound for that artist based around what I already do. Beats are only half the story, you have to have talent on that microphone or your best shit is worthless. Thats how u build it couzin...You can't deny a hot fuckin song, and the artist has to be as talented as the producer so the full potential of the beat is achieved...

It takes two ta make a thang go right.....

yea I'm in the same boat(4 seperate projects) so I already know. Its what happens after that thats the hard part. building a fan base takes years, unless you have big name backing. hot music will just fall under the radar otherwise (classic or hit).
