ok, i've got an M-Audio Axiom 25 and i'm using Reason 2.5

i load the sounds into redrum and when i hit the drum pads on the axiom it plays the samples. but then when i go to record and play it on the pads it doesn't record anything. if i play it on the keyboard itself it'll record it, but not if i try to use the pads.

anybody got any clue as to what the problem could be?

AHA!

i finally figured it all out.

ok, all the data from the drum pads is sent by default over channel 10. and all the other data from the axiom (keys, knobs, sliders) is sent over channel 1. Reason only allows you to specify a single channel to RECORD to the sequencer from. i could get midi data from the other one, which is why the samples were playing, but i couldn't record it. you can switch it in the preferences, but there is no way to just like, switch it on the fly. so i would have to switch the recording channel to 10 every time i wanted to use the pads.

so, i realized i could change the default routing of the drum pads to just be on channel 1 like everything else and set Reason to record off channel 1. now everything works!
