Brother Ali's last album, the critically acclaimed, The Undisputed Truth, was a landmark in hip-hop, an album that carried weight equally with critics and fans alike, an album of bold statements and bolder beats, politically and socially aware without being preachy. His new album, Us (Rhymesayers Entertainment), is a progression that will make Brother Ali one of the most enduring figures in hip-hop; while still aware, Ali has turned his gaze inward, and started examining the human condition from the outside in. A profound personal glimpse into a vulnerability seldom seen or heard in music, Us touches on the strengths and flaws of the human condition, exploring drug abuse, divorce, homophobia and many more topics that most people are scared to touch in their own lives, much less on an album for the world to see.

As with previous endeavors, the beats here are courtesy of Ant, whose production work seems to be getting more soulful and lush by the minute. The guest appearances only accentuate Brother Ali's strengths, with Chuck D, Freeway, Joell Ortiz and Stokley Williams of Mint Condition making strong appearances.

Word, mad slept on too.
The new album is gonna be bananas man.
They got gospel choirs, real musicians, just dope everything.....

Ali is far more than a musician, and by FAR more than he is given credit for. the knowledge that dude brings to the table on a bus load of topics is inspirational at the least. Love his music, his style, and his way of thinking (aside from religion). I love how he does go about religion though, speaking of himself.

No doubt man, your the first person Ive heard touch on the same perspective that I share on his music. I could def do without his preachy religious talk, but other then that hes a beast and so is ANT and Joe Mabbs....But your right he goes about delivering that message in a way that isnt too intrusive. I just cant stand preachy god-talk no matter where it comes from, but in Ali's case Ill make an exception. lol.

I agree, to disagree. There is no thing as too much Ali. Listening to people with the thought process he has can do NO harm. He is positive in all lights, this album puts a spot light on his positive thinking I believe, and his equality mindset is very inspirational to all sides. Again...just my thoughts, but I have to find someone who differs.
