Drum machines? I don't know how many people use them nowadays, but I used to own the Roland R-70 and it was pretty good. The sounds weren't that great, but that's what you get with a drum machine. Well, actually I mean the sounds weren't good for Hip-Hop! They were geared more towards rock, but the machine itself was cool. Easy to work around and lots of options, including memory cards and stuff. Oh, and it had 16 sensitive pads on it, so I would could record stuff like that, with a human touch.

Yamaha RY20 (That's my baby!!) is the best. Still got her!

1. Sounds are clean and crisp
2. Easy to use sequence song arranger
3. Mute Selector allows you to drop in/out seperate drums with out having to actually break down each drum on seperate track.
4. Great pad sensitivity

2nd would be
Alesis SR16 (4 outputs)
This machine was good for us dinosuars who had to do numerous passes to break up drum patterns into individual tracks.

mpc2000xl That's my baby joe it's easy to use as well good for changing sequences while playing a sequence with no problem and for laziness you can hold the note repeat on 1/8 -1/32(3) for a high hat without hitting the pad constantly for 4 to 8 bars

^^I don't think you should be mentioning the MPC. It's not a drum machine on its own. I think he's asking about actual drum machines that have built in sounds.

I havent messed with all of them to give any specific rating, but so far I like the Yamaha RM1X... I'd probably give it a 3, or maybe a 4. Its got all kinds of cheesy sounds, but editing the drums are easy enough. Its also a sequencer. I want to see what the Yamaha RS7000 is all about though.
