lmao, its true. I used to curl up into a ball and shiver uncontrollably in the corner and wouldnt respond to anybody for 3 days after a loss.
So basically you're the Ronda Rousey of beatmaking?
1pm ET is 12pm in my country while 8pm ET is 7pm in my country. I think I didn't take the date difference into consideration.
Yeah it's always eastern time the clock but there's the stupid daylight savings. If you're not sure just check https://time.is/

Definitely saw this coming...
First of all, I didn't shit on no ones work, because no one knows if his/her beat has been inside one of those 5 or 6 that I actually liked. so... who gives a fuck bout that? second of all, I can't be sugercoating 24/7. If I always say "Yoooo this battle is DOPE :fire: keep it I00 bishaz" then who gives a f what I'm saying, you know? if you're on early stages of beatmaking, then you're most likely not good. would you really want me to lie about it? One of the reasons I love illmuzik the most is that in battle you just see how good are you.

The reasons I don't showcase a lot is that I feel like people get shy in there. the idea behind showcase is awesome, but It takes ages for me to get a negative feedback in there. when I'm giving feedback in showcase though, I'm always trying to find all the shitty stuff in peoples work and later on, they always appreciate it.

I just want to be honest, so when I say something I actually mean it. not just make things sound cool. by the way I'm not even losing in this battle, why'd you compare me to doucheknob? :D

I haven't given a listen to the beats yet, but
I want to defend you @ArvinArmani.

It's important that people give honest feedback. If you think it's shit, then that's your opinion. So yes, there are other words to say it. But we know @ArvinArmani, he only means to push people so they improve. At least that's how I take it...

Plus @Fade, you just posted a thread about how you have had enough of people who can't handle havin' nobody coming for their birthday. And also I did not reply, I agree with you on this. So @ArvinArmani is not coming to our birthday, so be it. I can take it fine.

Yes, it's important to keep people supportive of each other but the feedback needs to be honest also. I am sure it was here.

Finally I must admit my beat is shit for this one. And I mean more than usual.

Of course we should give honest feedback. It's just I'll never say to someone their beat is shit even if it is because we've all been there. That's why with AOTB I try to give honest feedback but at the same time finding something in their beat that they ARE doing right and that DOES sound good. In other words, hope.

When I first started scratching, my friends were laughing (in a friends way) about how bad it was and I knew it was, but just them laughing and joking was enough to motivate me. Within the next year my scratching was a hell of a lot better. Same thing with beats. I started with just crappy stuff on a drum machine and my friends thought the beats were shit. They were. So I got better. I studied beats from other people and read manuals, got better, moved forward.

The bottom line is if you get negative feedback, that's fine, but it depends on what sort of feedback. If it's constructive feedback then good. But just saying these beats are crap or whatever is not being constructive. Either way, it's how you interpret it and what you decide to do with that criticism.

i know exactly where Arvin is coming from, and you, and you are both right about not sugar coating shit, and people need to hear the truth. I couldnt agree more, but just shitting on 4 fifths of the entries is rude, it stinks of elitism and can put people off. I just wanted to point out that we all came from nothing and to not forget that, not many beatmaking communities like this and I really like the traffic of recent days, its just like how this place used to be and that can only be a good thing. We can keep it civil at the same time and not come across as total arseholes when really we arent. Especially after the last beat this where the guy just shit on everybodys music because his boys told him he should have won hahahaha

I dnt know about that, i do psychology for a living and negative feedback doesnt really have the desired results as constructive feedback, no need to say what someone has done is shit, the same way you wouldnt say to your kid that a drawing that they made is shit. As long as people are putting their hearts to something, its not shit. Period

exactly, what might be wack to everybody else, its to the person who made it a technical achievement that has taken their production skills to the next level, its about perspective.

Is this how it's going to be with each battle now? Last time it was that Beatmaking Jesus that thought his beats were better than ice cream.
Yeah, it seems like this stay home order has made everyone sensitive and hostile...a lot of negativity coming from people who are still trying to figure out their potential...but think they are experts in criticism of music...I'm just curious if this situation is temporary or if it will be permanent...honestly the people who should be giving advice are the members that have won quite a good amount of contests...you will know who they are by checking out their contest history..I'm just saying...now someone will probably have a reason to contest this statement..so have at it
