Glad I voted earlier in the day as I've just sat down to make some music and bang the results are in!

@2GooD Productions Thank you for the kind words bro. Appreciated as always!

Congrats to the man in the land of the sand @iDeaLoGiK who came with the fighting talk and delivered like a legend. Nice one dude! Beat is dope, great mix too.

Beats are even nicer on the old headphones now I listen again properly...

@oninkaf dude, absolutely loving that beat of yours! I believe that got my vote in the end!

Maaaan, did anyone put @Delta Skeltah's beat up LOOOOOUUUUUD? Absolute groove. That bass, that lofi sizzle, that vocal chop up. Dope!

Even just on the phone I feel like I can quickly recognise the distinct sounds and mixes of @2GooD Productions and @Earsblower . Had downloaded both beats to give another listen before voting. Dope beats and mixes are immaculate.

@BiggChev this was your different direction? I liked the drums but wasn't as keen on the sample / instrumentation. More a personal preference thing cause it was executed perfectly.

Special shouts to @thekoolkrush @V.J. Retro & @M.I.ndless who had dope beats. @Wesbeats another beat that needed turned way up but sounded dope once it was. Had to turn my volume to near oblivion to get that snare slapping.
Yea I noticed that too I immediately went back to try n tweak lol I’ll be back

Just going through this in real time --- pleased to see everyone has jumped into the culture of post-battle reviews/love.

@iDeaLoGiK - Really cool beat, love the sounds, melodiesand the L-R / Front to back imaging. Only thing I'd personally add, is more bass/speaker excursion on those kicks, they're a little thin for my personal liking. Well balanded mix. Great work Congrats again

@prodCardellino - This is a really cool beat, great sample choice.Sample choice definitely leading to the placement here.Love the filtering. Is this the beat people are hating the 'distorted kicks' on? I'm quite keen on them tbh, I think they have a lot of character and emotion, I think they may just be placed a touch too loud, but not by much, I think they could keep that level but find a way to glue them better -- the other way to glue them would be to lower the level. Great work

@hosie - cool work. Very well composed. Can see this in the background in like timelapse graffiti videos or old skate vids. Relaxed and calm. The kicks feel maybe a little overly dynamic for me, or maybe could take some top end off them. But well balanced n cool track

@oninkaf - really cool old school vibes here, well captured.

@BiggChev - nice intro, i usually skip intros, but some do it right and it makes me want to hear it and wait for the beat. Really cool fucking beat, man. I really fuck with the textures and mood of this. Mix isn't bad, something about it I'm not keen on, but more in the sense of how great the beat is the mix definitely could have taken this like to levels of 'GREAT' beat. But this is really fucking cool work man. Probably my fave from you.Good quality sounds too

@2GooD Productions nice stuff, nodding along. Great theme and all fits to the emotion of it. I actually start picturing the accompanying video in my head. Feels like a solid musical idea

@Armani cool intro. This is giving me Eminem Show / Get Rich era dre/em type beats. Cool work young brother. Cool arrangement and structure too

@Bandia Gotach - really cool shit that i f with as usual. Mix wise, I probably would have pushed that kick to the front of the image, or just made it even bigger to really punch in the face. The mix is well balanced, I feel a little quiet... but i think you could have gone really bold with this mix and really hit listeners in the face with it. Do that, and this beat's a killer.

@BEATBRAWLER i like that you trying some thing, and i can see what you were doing, not my kinda thing, and don't think you fully pulled it off the way you intended, but still really intersting and creative. Stay doing you

@CalvinCoolidge - i really love this musically. Nodding to this shit. Cool drums, cool sample/music. This needs a really solid mix, big bold and punchy and this would be top tier work

@Delta Skeltah - man like Deltaaaaa. Cool fucking sample. This beat got a shit tonne of swag fam. Nah i love this. Would love to hear this record pushed, almost distorting and overpumping like one of those ny mixtapes, it's got the character for it. Sick work

@Earsblower - really fucking cool. lot of swag, really nodding to this. I'd probably have really beefed up/exaggerated the kick, maybe gave the snare more forwardness, would help edge the beat more solidly into 'hip-hop' territory. Can imagine some soul/blues singer over this and would absolutely fucking kill. Actually feel like writing a song to this. This shit could be a hit tbh, definitely get this toplined.

@KomeKie - definitely a lot of cool things going on in this beat. Definitely need to get those mix balances worked out and really let this one shine

@LetItRunAli - musically really cool. Need to bring that mix to life a bit tho, particularly the drums/kick; get that right and this is straight fire. i still fuck with it tho

@M.I.ndless - this is actually fucking cool, i started initially thinking it was a bit off. But then, it kinda came together. lot of attitude in this one. Look forward to hearing more shit like this, especially if you can nail the mix this would be like one of those quirky beats that could place with a top artist

@PhxAzTracmaster - really cool arrangement you have her. Mix is letting it down - I think reverb is making some of the elements to subdued. Balances are pretty fine, atmosphere is cool, those drums just need a lot more clarity and definition which i think is being taken away by the reverb (or similar)

@RJM this fucking slaps man. so much groove and attitude.I think the mix feels a little 'dusty', some more clarity and beefiness and perhaps hifi in the drums this would bang hard. But i really fuck with this

@TCoast this is cool - i could put it on an album with Arvin and BiggChev's beats... giving me some Get Rich era feels.I could mix this into a fucking top record. definitely give this a great mix, it deserves it.

@thekoolkrush - great vibes on this one. If you could get the drums out a bit more forward in it, really good.

@V.J. Retro - can see this sitting with some of those west coast cats. DPGC lol. cool work

@Wesbeats - sounds like cool work, like the kick drum, the balance is off tho, it's almost like you turned everything down except the kick. Can imagine you have very mid-forward monitoring, maybe lacking bass, not sure. Cause this record is mostly just kick. get the balance right and it's tasty

@WHAT1000 big up the synthwave ... definitely turn that fucking lead synth downnnnnnn. had to stop your track. That was way too overbalanced, at least take a shit tonne of upper mids out of it to save everyon's ears. Otherwise a very interesting and cool synthwavey type of track

Vast majority of beats in here could easily have won/placed. Really cool work. Even some of the less-well mixed beats were fucking rocking musically.

Feel like @Fade should just give everyone 5 points across the board for this one.

Great work illiens

Appreciate the feedback @Iron Keys

I’ve been trying to work on my mixes and did the whole “mix into the limiter” thing this round. What I’m struggling with is getting the spread between RMS and Peak smaller. I changed up my drum bus and NYC comp process too.

I’m trying to get a “louder” perceived mix, but don’t want it squashed and flat across the board.

@prodCardellino Is this the beat people are hating the 'distorted kicks' on?
no, only me. Its nothing personal either, just thought it strange that given the level of the beats in this battle that a distorted one would come second. I don't hate the player, I hate the game lmao. That said, in warzone I voted for his last distorted beat twice, because it was still the better beat IMO regardless.

Nice, man.

From what I could tell the overall level and tone was really good.

The aspect of mixing I was referring to, would be more emotional/artistic balancing. Probably an ironically quite advanced aspect, based on misbalancing for emotional impact, but you likely need to be able to balance first. Know the rules to break the rules type shit.

But yeah this was a great beat, man. And the sound quality was very good.

Hey,
I don't take it personally at all. Thank you for your opinion. I'm still working on these things. :)

Aren't we all mate, aren't we all, lol.
Don't take me too seriously, I don't. We are all here to have some fun and become better at our game in doing so. Congrats on the second place.

@iDeaLoGiK Dope beat, I like everything about it. The mix is on point, love the instrumentation. The track progresses really well. Like I said before, a very worthy winner.

@prodCardellino A little tip for the future, if you want your kick to stand out but are having trouble getting it to do so without pushing it into the red and causing bad clipping, turn everything else down. You can also use compression on it by controlling the highest peaks, bringing a bit more of the body up as a result with makeup gain. I use a soft clipper on my kicks, its does a very similar job, adds a bit of distortion too, but distortion that can be controlled, clipping is a lot easier to understand than compression, especially for a beginner, but have to train your ears up to hear the distortion, or upgrade your monitoring setup if its not showing you what needs to be heard. I also add some saturation so that its more audible on smaller speakers, like phones. A trick I learned from watching a Chris Lord-Alge masterclass was boosting 800hz with a tight Q on an EQ which ultimately has a very similar result but achieved a different way. Saturation just boosts harmonic resonances adding higher frequencies to what you started with. You can achieve quite a lot with an EQ on its own with a little sculpting of the frequencies. You can add weight around 60hz-80hz, cut some mud around 300hz and add a little presence up at 800hz. You can also cut the boom below 40-50hz. A little soft shelf cut to cut below 40-60hz can remove too much boom. Hope this helps and isnt too much of a word salad. On this particular track, I think just lowering its level out of the red will really help as its just up too loud.

@hosie Don't have much constructive on this, its dope. The mix is on point, sounds really clean. Sonically sounds great. If I had to pick a bone about anything it would be that it could use a little more weight in the low end. Without a prominent bassline you could probably get a lot more weight out of the kick, or just add a simple bassline, I think that would make it complete.

@oninkaf Love the snare, track reminds me of something Buckwild would come up with back in the days. Can hear Big L rapping on it. Pure DITC vibes, I love DITC vibes.

@BiggChev Really like this beat, one of my favourites of the battle. Definitely my favourite beat I've heard of yours. It just feels like a battle beat, great atmosphere. Dope.

@Armani "G, G , G-Unit" Can hear 50 on this 20 years ago. Personally I think you of all people could have added a bit of your own style to this, made it more your own, expanded on the style.
Was one of my favourites of the battle with a good fight music feel, but it was the lack of originality that made me choose other tracks that were more original in their creation.

@Bandia Gotach Has a good battle beat feel to it, but I feel there is something missing... energy. It progresses and changes up at the right places, but it just feels like its missing a spark IMO, something to set it apart and add some energy that makes me screw my face up and bang my head like a nutter in a mosh pit.

@BEATBRAWLER Mix is really lacking on this one, really lacks low end, everything seems to be concentrated in the mid frequencies. I really admire your willingness to jump in on the battles and call out anybody, even me. Keep doing what you are doing, you will just keep getting better at it.

@CalvinCoolidge This one seems to be really lacking in the high frequencies, sounds muddy and muffled as a result. I think you could boost the higher frequencies on the snare and the hi hats to get a better balance across the whole frequency spectrum, that alone could cure the muddiness, but if not a little cut in the 300hz range on the bassline would help there.

@Delta Skeltah Love the bounce, not a big fan of the vocals on it, but thats a personal taste thing, I think they take up too much of the beat too. I love the grittiness of this one, but I feel this could also use a bit more clarity in the higher frequencies, a little sparkle. The organ sounds dope and I really like the drums.

@Earsblower This is really dope, drums sound really nice, clean mix and nice use of panning, sounds professional to me like it should have a soulful singer on it and it should be on the radio. Great work.

@KomeKie I like your spirit, jumping into a battle. A couple clicks here and there due to maybe bad chopping of the sample or due to the 808, but just keep doing what you are doing. Try to incorporate a bit of progression, maybe put a drop out in and add and remove an instrument in a timely fashion, I see you are doing some variation with your hats and the bassline. Im not going to confuse you with technical babble.

To be continued...
