I had to stop the first listen halfway through, and when I returned, the beats were all mixed up. I reserve the right to listen to everything properly before voting. In the meantime, I want to say well done, you really know how to make beats. But. Okay, rock is such a broad definition that it almost means nothing. Some drums are really rock. "Eye of the Tiger." Arctic Monkeys, okay. A bit of dub and reggae. Also prog. But overall, I expected a bit more aggression, like Kid Rock, and instead, the rock here is often soft. Personally, if it sounds lighter than Suicidal Tendencies, it's pop... But well done. Oh, a mention for the beat with the drum that is just a single kick. I doubt it will ever win you anything, but the track is great, so a prize for you too (we know who you are).

Keep the "Rules" in mind...

...The goal is still to make a hip-hop beat. While we all listen to, and probably make, a variety of styles - this is still a hip-hop centred forum.

It's also a competition and we're trying to make a better "hip-hop beat" than the others. Hell, a few months ago I submitted an entirely hard rock song for a battle - I didn't even get close to winning lol.

I get where you're coming from...in this format, on this platform, it's equal parts artistic exploration and strategy.

@attila

Common issue with genre-themed erm.. themes... is that there tends to be an easily occurring tendency to end up making that genre rather than giving the vibes of ot delivered via a Hip Hop beat.

Has happened to me once or twice too.

But ultimately we're (aiming to make and) voting for the best hip-hop beat that also carried the theme topic.

Yeah it changes when you refresh - I typically make sure the beat I voted for is the beat I voted for later by refreshing and checking.

I had it once where my vote was on a different beat and it 'let me vote for myself' (it wouldn't be it would just get attributed elsewhere).

I used to note like beat 7 beat 5 to come back and vote. But they change. So I try make sure I do it in one sitting. Or at least make a mental note of the music itself but not the number.

If the rock is 'soft' it is still rock... There's more than 100s types of rock genre so in the end it still fits IMO... Like you said @attila rock IS broad... More aggressive perhaps a 'Metal' or even 'horrorcore' hip hop theme would fit better.
Yes, of course, theme is rock, not hard rock. t's just what I was expecting.

Hopefully anyone trying to cheese the battle with Ozzy Osbourne shit get blacklisted.
I was going to sample from him out of respect but it's hard to find a song from him to sample from besides Crazy Train which has already been sampled a lot. Plus I had only an hour to submit my beat so I had to find something quick. lol

Everything Is fine. As said, it was just me expecting tracks like Bawitdaba, or Bring the noise (with Anthrax), or Walk this way, or some stuff like JPEGmafia last album, etc. Not a lot beats like those so I have been surprised, nothings wrong anyway.
