Automato and RJD2 are coming to Mtl

I heard (read) a couple of times y'all talking about RJD2, but, to be frank, I dont know what he does, how he makes beats for, or anything. Also, I dont know who Automato is...

Actually, both of them are coming to Montreal for the International Jazz Fest of Montreal. Jokes aside, if you wanna come to Montreal sometimes, you gotta chose the times where the jazz fest is (sorry there's a mistake in that sentence, I know it...). You got free concerts on the streets (350 free concert) and some real good musicians too. This year, there is K-Os, in the hiphop (not a lot, but a very good artist), then you have artist from all over the world playing live for free... this year, I'm bringing my recorder... I'm gonna sample those musician for real! I always wanted to do that, now I CAN!

Anyways, I really just wanted to know what I would have to expect from Automato and RJD2. All i know is that they are from NYC, that Automato plays with a live band (I love watching live bands), and that RJD2 played with Radiohead and The Strokes.... I dont know, but he dont sound too hiphop to me....

RJD2 is great man, you gotta go see him [I'd jump at the chance myself]. It is hiphop, probabaly more in the vein of dj shadow and the like though.

RJ has produced for MF Doom, Jakki The Motormouth etc... He's on El-P's label, Def Jux. www.definitivejux.net

rjd2 will most likely do a 4 deck set mixing in shit from his album with the original shit he sampled. besically he will recreate different versions of his tracks, live on 4 decks. trust me its insane.

automator im not sure what he will do. but he makes phat beats.

Yeah, if u dig turntableism then this show is for you.....if you dont really dig people flippin it up and jugglin like crazy, then this prob aint yer show........................I like to just watch him zone out and juggle the craziest shit....he makes some fuckin ill mixes that get you all zoned out an shit.......if you go tho, watch what he does with his records when hes puttin on his show,,,,the fucker doesnt even bother putin em' back in the cases cuz he juggles so fast, he just throws them on the ground, every time i see him do that it bothers me..lol..., but u gotta repsect how fast he needs to be to make that shit work....

RJ is a monster live, ive seen that cat 3 times. he does nasty dj sets and flips all the instrumentals he does with the actual sample, its sick. he recently did a remix for Tweet "Turn Off The Lights", its on the import version of her album. Ive never seen automator do anything live but he's a sick producer, from Handsome Boy Modeling School to Music To Make Love To Your Woman By to The Gorillaz- all he's done has been dope, so take flicks and videos and post em

hip hop mostly, but his beats are just fuckin beatiful, ive showed RJ to people that dont even like hip hop but they're baffled by his shit. honestly, its just music in a pure form. ill see if i upload a track or 2 later so u can hear it. peace

If its Dan the Automator than it should be an ILL show. He did Handsome Boy Modeling School with none other than Prince Paul and he does cuts for Kool Keith and Deltron 3030. His sound is VERY unique. Automator samples classic synths and uses em in songs. His creativeness is dope and its a very rare thing in hip hop so hes definetely in the upper echelon of hip hop if not just music since most hip hop heads wouldn't consider his music hip hop, to whom they could get a heel hook to break their leg. He's up there with DJ Shadow, whom he collaborated with on one album "Bombay the Hard Way, Guns, Cars, and Sitars," which was sweet. A true unrecognized artist in hip hop.
