As for projects.. just get them shits sounding right using minimall plugs ... then when u are finished with the ENTIRE project go back and mix or pay someone else to it ... dont try to "finish" every song before u go to the next .. u wont get things done that way.

If ur recording dont worry about promoting/mixing etc. cuz ur not upto that point yet.

hope that helped... i completely relate to your situation tho i know that feelin

Werd.

Thanks Ash. This is a wise post. I've been on this circular path of having hundreds of song fragments with nothing finished for years. Stick to the winners, execute, complete them in the proper manner. Then save the next wave of heat for the second album. Reminds me of a quote, "good art is never finished, it is abandoned". Easy to get caught up on one beat, fall in love with it, do a hundred mixes/arrangements and never finish it.

Crossing the finish line keeps me focused.

You do get side tracked but the anxiousness of getting it done just makes everything fall in place.

Now if you guys can come up with a way to making it harder to surf for porn, I can crank out an album a week. It is just too easy. Searching for snares and kicks, 2 seconds later, searching for boobies.

Werd up bro,
I haven't tasted that finish line of having a finished product in my hand (meaning a CD/LP or even a beat for sale on soundclick/myspace) etc. in a minute. Gonna take this wisdom too. Funny shit on the porn mention, it's true though, whether it's boobies or trivia, there's millions of webpages out there to distract you for decades, it's a tough world to stay focused in these days...

i absolutely agree with ash.

one of toughest part 4 me is to move on to the next track.cause iam a perfectionist so i end up having 20 diffrent version of a mix!!! ts just stops the creative process to much and thats fucked up.but from now on iam a try what ash said this way iam sure i will finish my debut DOUBLE CD album b4 2009 :D
