I understand, I mean I still can't hate on them, like I said earlier, I don't do much online gaming or credit card business transactions with them. As for the console itself, I think it's still better than xbox. I guess I'm just a Sony fan. But they are gonna have to up their game like everybody else is saying or yes they will loose some loyal gamers.

I think theyve been stolen already, ready for purchase on the russian market. Sony just brought the news very carefully.

Sony's statement sounded like some asses too. I know companies dont take blame because thats like a confession but this was a serious screw up that needs some humility and forgivness.

Sony is not a small company in the least.... this situation is so large scale that it couldn't have been avoided in terms of the media....
If it happened in microsoft, it would've have gotten the same amount of flack.
The problem with this is not that they hacked into the network, the problem is that they didn't store their customer's information securely and it was relatively "easy" to access that information.
That's a no-no in the internet world. A lot of people will not go back to Sony for this particular reason.
Microsoft, being the type of company it is, (IMO) wouldn't allow that, especially since it's members pay for their xbox live services, and will find any reason to NOT pay for it.

I'm no computer genius but I have a problem with this statement... how are you gonna steal credit card numbers and then sell them on the internet? Around here, thats how they bust you. You can get away with stealing something but once you sell it they got you. I just find it hard to believe that they are smart enough to hack the PSN and then make a mistake like that. Or am I missing something?

The article I posted might be a little underwhelming actually, not entirely factual either.. but I guess the point is that Sony made a boo boo. In any case, Mortal Kombat is wicked, I just beat the challenge tower, and am now working on learning all the different characters more in depth... any cats got this for x-box yet for some online play?
It was a great article and probably pretty accurate as far as what actually happened. I guess my point is... now that they have hacked it and stolen credit card info, what next? They gotta know that this is some Fed ish and they will be all over it. Unless I'm missing something, this was a pretty dumb move.
In any case, I'm sure that Sony has the technology to make sure that this NEVER happens again so yeah I agree this was a BIG OOPS on Sony's behalf but I'm willing to bet that they will have security compared to Ft. Knox when the dust settles making them even safer than Microsoft.
As for MK, I just finished the Story Mode yesterday. It was tough and took a lot of retries....lol. I'm starting the Challenge Tower today =).

Russian mob has been selling cc info gained from sniffers, trojans etc for long time already. There are some sites available that offer cc info for 5 bucks which you CAN use to make purchases, eventhough there is a chance that the purchase will be intercepted. In a lot of cases its already to late and the scammer gets away with it. We had docu about it some time ago, so this practice is old.
I dont even think it was a matter of being smart enough, it was actualy easy enough since Sony didnt even encrypt the cc data. Second, they were able to hack in the dev servers easily enough to get the ball rolling. With 70million customers i'd take much more precautions to protect your exploits, protect customers 2nd...so sony fails bigtime for being so unprofessional.

sure they will loose a bunch of customers. but there are a ton of people that are straight fanboys. since ps1 you have those that will not even touch another console. sony can do no wrong in their eyes. i dont listen to anybodys claim about what system is what unless they have both. i consider myself a hardcore gamer. i have all 3 systems. i will not be getting a ps4 thats for sure.

if the ngp is any indication, the next iteration of the playstation is going to be expensive as hell. there is no need for a new console because any new feature can be added through updates and since new consoles usually come out with new features that leaves only graphics. that alone is not enough for me to want to spend between 600 and 1000 on a new console. at least until the price drop. cause im a cheap sumbitch. its not a playstation thing. i wont be gettin a next xbox either.
Oh ok, I feel ya on that BUT I'm thinking that they may apply incentives especially since this BIG boo boo. They are pretty notorious for making up their mistakes remember the Toyota incident? They are very smart and I'm sure that they realize how pissed people are about this blunder. I think that it will work out in our favor.

Have you played the online for MK yet? I played about 4 matches, won 2, lost 2. It was really hard to pull off any combos because of lag. I would often land a started, then lag would kick in and my input wouldn't register. I think I'm going to wait for the online to get updated... right now the online feels like I'm playing quake on a 56.6 baud modem.
