Are ASCAP,BMI, or Taxi worth joining if....

..you have no singles on airplay??Should I just joint to do it or should I wait. And is anyone here involved with taxi i've been reading up on them as well and they seem like they could help some but there membership fee is like $300 any help is appreciated

It's free to register as a composer/writer... so why not... I've been told that it makes you seem more professional...etc... and as far as taxi... I was a member and hated it. More because they never tell you exactly whom you're making music for..etc. That and after paying a $300 membership fee... you have to pay $5 per song for EVERY submission... a bit steep.

Dynamic Producer offers a bit more in the way of service and is easier on the wallet.

ascap is for people whos music is being performed (i.e. live, radio etc). You transfer your performance rights to them and they collect royalties for you. dont know about the others.

I'm a member of ASCAP and the benefits work out pretty good. It's free, so it wouldn't hurt. You neva know you might get picked and having to wait on an ASCAP number could take a couple of months.
