so all it is what your doing for that day?

Yeah....

But I guess it is a free way to let people, your followers, know what you are doing. For example... if you release an album and you tweet it, all your followers can get notified on their mobile phone if they choose to.

And then i guess it helps with the whole virtual word of mouth.

For example, one of your fans is at a house party and they get an update on their phone. One of their friends asks who was that? Then a possible discussion comes up about how they like your music and thus they spread the word about you amongst all those at the party.

That's the idea.

For the uninitiated, Twitter is revolutionizing the way people communicate across the world.

Tools such as Twitter is one of the key reasons Barack Obama is your new president. He embraced new strategies of communicating with voters through various social networks including heavy usage of Twitter to announce where he was speaking/campaigning and many other aspects of his journey to this day.

Barack is 10x the Rockstar than anybody on this site will ever be (including myself) and yet in order to get the job done he embraced new ideas, especially Twitter. The point I'm making is instead of worrying about the wackness of the name Twitter, or wondering what it could be used for, you should be test driving it.

I could tell you 300 ways to make money, sell records, collaborate with artists, set up tours, promote, update Myspace Facebook using Twitter.com but that's really not the point.

At its very least, you'll meet new people and learn new things about some of your favorite people. At the most, it greatly helped a junior Senator from Illinois become the next President. It's up to you to fill in the blanks.

Lets see how many people since reading that jumps on board.

Been on twitter for almost 2years now.

Twitter Clients

To add, you can kinda use twitter like any other IM medium by installing on your computer http://www.tweetdeck.com/ (personal favourite of mine; lets you set up groups of people based on keywords in the "twitterverse" ie: beatmaker in New York or rappers in Germany etc) or http://www.twhirl.org/ then @ the person you want to communicate with. If you have a BlackBerry® you can go here http://www.orangatame.com/products/twitterberry/ and install Twitterberry. If you have an iPhone search the app store "Twitter" there is a handful of apps for Twitter that you pick and choice to suit your needs.

Again follow me by going to http://twitter.com/richontwitter

I must say that my usage of Twitter has graduated from providing updates to serving as the starting point to real offline connections and deals being done.
I'm fielding all types of new opportunities from the conversations that I'm having on Twitter.

It's not how many followers you have, it about the conversations you're having with those followers. If you're about making connections and doing business, you'll find LOTS of opportunities coming your way just by being active on Twitter.
