^^^^^^yes I Would Definitely Do That. Anything That Gets Me In The Door. But If You're Talking About Selling The Same Beat To, Lets Say Luda And Snoop, Then No I Would Definitely Not Do That.

I look at it this way, just be straight up with nigs. Tell them they ain't "buying" the beat. They leasing it. Then you can do what you want. Most local cats don't like that ish but its too many good reasons to do it.

What if somebody comes along and wants to spend some real cash on the beat?
What if them cats don't ever put the ish out?
What if you lose business or opportunities because you can't even let nigs hear certain beats?

Its funny cause around here it seems to me that the nigs thats on the circuit already know to play the game that way. its basically the local cats thats just starting to get serious that don't know. I don't even have to explain it half the time.

My problem is the homie shit, your homeboys catchin feelings b/c you let somebody else hop on "their" shit... Like they was the ones pushin buttons...

My Take On This

Its all a matter of rights. You as creator of the beat have rights on the beat, and it is also your responsibilty to clear any samples used. As their makers have rights too. When you sell a beat you really should have a contract that states what rights, ie full rights(exclusive), or usage rights(non-exclusive) each has its own price bracket and own benefits. If you sell a beat with non exclusive rights, you maintain the copyright of the track and can resell the non exclusive rights to whoever you wish. exclusive rights can be around £1000/$2000 and non exclusive as little as £25/$50. And then theres a matter of royalty payments, thats why a contract is important, if your track blows up and there is no contract, its a poor state of affairs to be in.
