just asking if anyone has done it ... i havent as yet but i have submitted beat cds for projects that have beats ive already sold on them ..it a coincience they never seemed to get picked... i try not to but if someone were to pay top dollar for one i prolly would ... just curious if anyone has ever done this ...

ps: most of the time im not selling beats with contracts or anything so its not like im breaking a contract by selling the beat to someone else

Yo that is just the Code of Producers basically, you dont sell 2 people the same shit. Its just plain old foul. I do it only if 1 of the people clearly are not going anywhere with the beat, but u dont want to gain that rep. Alchemist is the fuckin king of double selling, and has fucked up business relationships over that shit. He did that to R.A. the Rugged Man (sold the same beat to Royce Da 5'9" - "Im The King"), and you all probly know bout the one in 2001 where Jadakiss had that hit single, but that beat originally he sold to Ras Kass.

^^^^ i feel u clev ... gettin rep like that is bad... i dont think that i would sell a beat to someone for like 200 and up and resell it . but these 50 dollar tracks can get passed around like a green leaf dutch4 all i care..fuc dat ... i usually tell cats anyways that i still own the shit im just selling u the permission to use em.. but it hasnt happened where i sold someone the same shit yet ... i will def try an avoid it but if a major shows some interest in something that one of my street cats got... sorry to say that shit is gettin sold.. again

the reason im askin is that alot of times i give cds to people and hear back from them or someone they gave it to like wwwaaaayyy later (years i some cases lol)... sometimes people call me about beats that i dont even have anymore and i got to remake them an shit... its only a matter of time before i get an offer on a beat thats already been used i was just seein if anyone else has been put in a similair situation..

LFMAO. you niggas are wild.

Anyway..

Nah haven't sold the same beat to two people. but i sold this one guy half a beat.

yup. he wanted a beat custom made.. I made half of it.. He paid half the money, and thats the last i ever heard from him.

I guess my half was equivelent to his "hit" record.

I havent done it but i would if i was in the situation u described($50 to $100 beats)

thing is ash,
most cats cant do it, casue they beats are wack, but yours aint,
Im pretty sure alot of MC's are willing to bless ur tracks even if u tell them that u have sold it before..... casue ur ish is that nice... Plus u bang out them things like its nothing so go for it...

Now u were making wackass begginer tracks then it would be a differnt story casue u need as pratice and development as u can...u couldent afford getting a bad rep for reselling tracks..... but u got heat so no matter what MC's are gonna need hot beats, espically these days...

class...

Ayyoooo im gonna bring buy that rock sample this weekend so we can finish that joint... hit me up

Hell in gasoline drawz!! LOL

"Lord forgive him, he got them dark forces in him" LOL Yo though I "lease" the same beats all the time here locally. Maaaaaaaan honestly, sometimes most local cats will pay the money, sit on the beat, spit over the track, play it for they boys and thats it. I dont feel bad about it. Plus if I was Alchemist, I would have done the same thang with that We Gon' Make It track, it was too hot to just have a brotha with label problems sit on it.

even if you made wack beats its still aint right. Its just proper business ethics. it doesnt matter how good or bad your beats are. And MC's nowadays cant tell a wack beat from a banger anymore anyway.

well its simple dont give the local/lesser cats your best shit then, so you wont have an issue with selling fire to the wrong guy on the other hand, locals are a way to get your name out too!

the best shit i keep for myself no doubt but .. the fact is there is no formula to what gets picked and sold and what doesnt .. i make tracks in all genres, hip hop , r&b, dancehall, even some straight dance music... some i like some i dont .. alot of the shit im not feelin people cant get enough of.. some of my bangers have gotten passed over repeatedly... some beats i hate get sold fast as shit... classic knows what im talkin bout some of the beats classic made and played for me he didnt like but i heard em and jumped all over them for the album were doing.. its all relative and hard to predict.. i keep what I like but that doesnt really mean a damn thing cuz evrybodys got diffrent tickers

the agrument i have here is that ... someone pays me 50-150 for a beat .. thats a steal.. if there local (and not crazy) ill even let them come by and record the shit if im not busy wit other shit ... now there getting a quality track with a decent mix( im no engineer but i dont get any complaints about the mix quality) for less than the studio time alone would cost them at some other studios..... people understand that ..... they also know that imma hustler by nature and im on the lookout for my big break... plus they never signed a contract wit me just straight cash ...they have no right to the beat and they know that... they know the deal .. ill refund somebody the 50 bones they paid if jay z wants to use my shit feel me?. ... im not saying i go around purposely tryin to sell beats to more than one person but if it so happened where someone wants a beat and there gonna pay me 5-10gs for something i sold to my homeboy for 50 dollars then i would be a retard to say no.. would anybody here say no? thats the question im asking

i understand its a bad business pratice in theory but my clients understand the deal...im just lookin to place on a major right now .. once i get my foot in the door evrything will be legit and proper done through a lawyer with signatures, notaries , and guarantees on evrything but for now like open mind said ...MONEY SPEAKS!
