December 4th isn't just the name of a great Jay-Z song, it is now the slated release date for two of 2007's most anticipated albums. Both Wu-Tang and Saigon have been given the winter release date from their respective labels. Wu, who is returning with their first album in 6 years, just had their November 13th release date for 8 Diagrams pushed back by Universal.
Saigon and his highly anticipated The Greatest Story Never Told has never actually had a release date from Atlantic and has been the subject of much talk this summer when he lashed out at the label. His Just Blaze-produced debut has finally been pegged with a date now.
Whether or not either album will actually drop on the day remains to be seen, as does whether or not these artists will play into the hype the way Kanye and 50 did. Either way, fans should have something to look forward to this winter.

Hip Hop is so lame right now. No creativity what so ever! I'm not talking about the artist, both are nice! I'm referring to the labels and their promotion schemes. Everybodys gonna jump on the Ye and Fif publicity stunt bang wagon. Shit is worse than reality t.v.!

it's been like that for some time. with the success of 50/Kanye (thanks to 9/11..being..well..9/11) it's only gonna get worst.

I used to be amped about Saigon's project. Now, I am sick of hearing about it.

This delay has hurt is career. I would've used the advanced to drop some shit independently, keep a buzz going.

Mixtapes are dope promotion, but you need to eventually drop an album.

Yea. Seems like all these highly anticipated artist are either clowns or the labels signed them just to put them on the self so they wouldn't compete with there other artist. What ever happen'd to guaranteed release dates being structured into your contract? Are artist not asking for that in there contracts anymore? Give a ni@@a an advance and they go ballin' out of control instead making sure there projects get pushed out.

only thing i'm anticipating on that list is the saigon, the delay of the album sucks, but everytime i hear a new song come out by dude (come on baby) it's like whatever i can wait if the cd is going to be like this.

Doesn't it always seem that it's only hip-hop albums that be pushed to another date than the date it was supposed to be; I FUCKING HATE corporate America and how they think pushing albums like Saigon to yet another date because it might boost sales. FUCK That!!! I want to hear good ass music; FUCK sales!!!

that's what i think. one day a cat wasn't sure when or where his next meal was comin' from. now he has several thousand in his pocket just for puttin his name on a peice of paper. now he's "arrived". i know that it's not always the "coporate machines" fault for albums being pushed back. there are deadlines that need to be kept and sometimes, the artist doesn't keep'em. the whole marketing situation is dull. no creative marketing plans, and no creative videos anymore. in saigon's case, i think it was almost neccessary that he have a release date now. "c'mon baby" is a dope record, but without that release date, cats would have got back on that "it's dope, but when's the album droppin?" and the record would fade shortly after that. in anycase, i don't think any other these releases will top the Kanye/50 release. 9/11 just worked all by itself, and it'll be a tall order to top it.(not without creativity and a damn good work ethic)

I don't understand what the big deal is...both the Wu and Saigon make hip-hop for the love of it. If I were thinking anything about them, they'd be promoting each other.

I'd go out and buy both albums. That'd be a great day to look forward to. Who cares who made bigger records sales? Those kinds of records should never care about competition.

they also do it to make money too. they may not be sellin out so to speak, but they are trying to sell.

i think it would be good look if they went on a promo tour together, but that's easier said than done. damn good idea tho imo.

well..competition (though friendly) can stir up interest in the releases. so competition is not a bad thing. that was the good thing that came out of the 50/Kanye release. i'd love to see something similiar to the "month of the man" promotion that Def Jam did to promote Redman's dare is a darkside and Method Man's tical album. it wasn't really competition, it just served a great marketing strategy to two great releases in the same month.
