ghostface uses the sm7b (sm7..same thing) alot ... cant go wrong with it .. u can find an sm7b for about 300 on ebay... i got one and its pretty much dead on to what u described ..its not a condensor though... but it makes ur voice weigh a ton... its not a light airy detailed mic .. but its heavy and in ur face... u need a really good preamp to use with it though cuz it takes mad gain to drive... alot of low end/soundcard/interface preamps wont cut it..

its gotta be a condensor, cuz imma do other things with it as well, im recording a band in the new year, and i got a dynamic mic....i jst want some clean sounding vox, none of this bullshit you hear all over myspace, with shit recordings, IMO a good recording singles you out in the underground....PZ

but....imma get one of them sm7s as well haha

well typically condensers are not gritty. I have a choice of many many mic when I track a band and I find my self using condensers very often. They are a bit more versatile. That being said I really like the sure KSM27. Or the Nueman TLM103 thats a nice one.

yea ribbons is cool no doubt, but i heard if you blow on em too hard it can fuck em up, i mean what kind of placement do you need on that like 4ft or something? or can you get in close?
