Im really glad that AKAI is still supporting Hip Hop (kinda) but I was expecting a little more from their MPD26 especially with the introduction of Maschine and Mikro. I mean the MPD series is cool but they've got to up their game if they want to compete with the newer technologies...

You do realize the 26 is a little old, right?

In fact I'm quite sure it predates Maschine and other hardware/software combos. I would actually be surprised if Akai isn't working with a software company to make their own hardware/software solution.

It hasn't been a year yet for the mpd26. Maschine goes back to late 2008, early 2009. I'm not sure that AKAI is working on the next generation mpd but you never know for sure. I thought Roland would be working on their next generation MV only to find that they've abandoned it. I just hope that we aren't seeing the same thing that has happened to music.

I wish Maschine had those pads, though.

I wouldn't call them shit...lol, but I do like the pads on Maschine better. The MV has them both though...Roland nailed it with the pads - MPC style but you don't have to knock the hell out of them. =) I wonder if you can put the MV pads in both Maschine and the MPD? (even with a little modification...it would be worth it imo)

Wow...as long as when I hit the pad I get sound I'm cool. Velocity is great on my MPD18 and it takes up less room on my desktop than any other gear I have. I have enough sliders, buttons and rotarys on my other gear. Pads are a tad stiffer on the MPD than the pads on my MPC but it's nothing to warrant a complaint or a wish that they would change. I actually like beating on the pads. Sometimes that helps to relay aggression to the track. A real drummers doesn't "tippy tap" on the drums unless it's on some smoove type shit!

Maybe u guys should work on your "kung fu" finger techniques...lol

There's nothing WRONG with the pads on the MPD, dp and I were comparing them in relationship to other samplers/controllers thats all. I think it boils down to preference and technique. Some people like to bang, some don't, some like to have the option to do both. I just purchased a MPD32 and I luv the thing so far. Just comparing pads, thats all...lol.

As for the people in the AKAI forum complaining...they just need to find something else...problem solved!

ha ha, I have owned two different MPD units and both I needed to hit with a freaking hammer to get anything out of them. Read up on the akai forums it is a very common complaint for these units. And a real drum should not be smashing his drums, that is bad technique.

Stop buying from Sweetwater....PROBLEM SOLVED....LOL

I thought they had the same pads as the 3000....

Guess not.....

The pads I have on my replacement maschine aren't as nice as the one I originally bought...they feel lighter and actually cheaper.

I forgot about my Trigger Finger...it was pretty nice especially for the price. M-Audio should have stuck with it and improved it (or do they still make it?)
