When you format the 2Gb on the mpc you'll only have the option for 512. You can do a 2Gb format on the mpc and drop some samples on it, but the mpc will crash when browsing through files. It would do this ad random, some folder can be opened but you never know on which selection of folder will make it crash.
Anyway...2Gb is a lot of 16bit/44kHz mono drums, I've dumped samplecds onto 512mb and making a choice of samples didnt really make it easier for me so I'm saving pgm by pgm in seperate folders (drum pgms and phrases). I also have a dedicated library disk and trackdisk, library to load my pgms into the mpc and then I save all data to track disk when done. I also dont need to take the disk out cuz I can dump via my scsi card through the external scsi...its real lazy these days hehe
