    dont over think it. what have the greats done? dilla, premier, rza, alchemist, madlib, etc.? they are sampling breaks and chopping them. They probably are eq'ing, compressing, layering, and/or doing nothing. But they are not always doing it all at the same time. see what im saying? it all...

    for sure. using an mpc, thats a good use of 16 levels. you select your hihat turn 16 levels velocity (as opposed to tuning) and at minimum alternate loud & quiet on the down and up beats. does wonders.

    definately get the jjos if you can afford it. there is also a free version. the free has less features, and was before some advanced enhancements. You can try all the versions for free (just cant save) and if you dont like it, you can go back to akai os. if you like it, you can buy it...

    They need to make an mpc version of their synthstation 49. basically an mpd 32 like pad controller where you can dock an iphone or ipad with an akai mpc app. But it has to be real mpc like and take it to the next level, keeping that mpc workflow but adding all the advantages of touch screen...
