So... My song will be on some bbc radio station in a couple hours?

Ha ha yeah. The main rapper MC Free arranged it. Silverfinger turned up at the studio in the Uni one day and did his thing. I think he's got a cool flow. Wish I'd kept doing stuff like that and kept networking but got distracted with other things in life.

So... My song will be on some bbc radio station in a couple hours?

Congrats @Armani. Particularly the beer part! Weird connection here, saw that pic of the silverfinger Singh bloke and recognised him. Pretty sure he did a verse on one of my tracks back in 2006/7 when I was at Uni in Leeds and making a mixtape with a local rapper. He was really good even then...

    Beat This! - June 29-30, 2021

Really would've liked to join this one but on holiday. Damn shame cos I love reggae + hip hop. NWA 'Alwayz Into Something' is still one of my fave beats of all time. I feel us UK boys have the edge in this. Gonna get back to the hotel and have a listen to the beats. There better be fire if I'm...

    Warzone Beat Battle - June 25-26, 2021

I can't make this one either. Didn't want to rush the beats and half arse it. Good luck to all!

Here's a nice quick breakdown of a top rap beat

This totally. I usually layer a couple of snares but that's about it. Maybe two kicks sometime. That DAW looks so busy and makes me cringe. I fell into the trap of overprocessing and over time realised good sound selection is better. I mean who has the time to spend half a day searching for...

    Modern Music's Death By Auto-Tune

Another Rick Beato fan! I love this dude, he's so talented. Will watch this. Just watched his 'Kiss from a Rose' WMTSG. Was awesome and he actually had Seal on it!

    Beat This! - June 16-17, 2021

Careful mate you start using them FM synths and you might accidentally make a dubstep track

    Beat This! - June 2-3, 2021

Mind blown. Will go back and listen again. I just thought you added on some chiptune synths to make it 'experimental'. Beat was tight af though.

    Beat This! - May 19-20, 2021

I voted for @2GooD Productions song definitely had that 90s vibe made me want to dance. @prod.bysicksiah was a close second, also drenched in 90s goodness. Liked the @K-waz beat too, I swear I once made a track with a similar chord progression to that - never released it tho just a coincidence...

    Beat This! - May 19-20, 2021

@Pappas Beats - congrats mate real smooth and sexy! Damn came so close but stoked to be runner up! Was looking forward to this one as I have a bit of a soft spot for 90s swing / R&B. Will do a bit more of a round up later after work.

    Beat This! - April 21-22, 2021

I enjoyed this comp as I had time off work so sat in a sunny beer garden with me headphones and listened to all this music. So many good tracks and was really feeling them in the sunshine. Sorry I can't comment on all, but I enjoyed everything. These were thoughts and highlights for me...

    Showcase - April 19-25, 2021

Nice beat like the chill vibe and guitar sound. You should change up the drum pattern a bit. Like have bits where the kick drops out, bits where there's no drums and maybe do some filtering on the drum bus.

Who/How/What To Study Regarding Music Production

I started off being inspired by musicians and trying to emulate them. Its good to do that for a while as you learn how other people put things together. Ultimately you want to graduate past that but everyone does it. I think the most important thing is putting in the hours. Being consistent...

    Drake...

Lol asking this question is like pulling the pin on a grenade! He's always been a pop R&B crossover so can't really call him hip hop. Around 2015 he started trying to do more hip hop and sound tough. Around 2017 he started trying to co-opt British grime which was really silly. I do rate 40 as...
