    Akai S5000 truncate samples issue

Hey hektek, the problem is that the SP1200 is not a very good controller for triggering a sampler (especially something as sophisticated as a S5000). When you press a key on the SP, it's a fixed duration, it's one fast tick, one quick millisecond note on message. That's why it's not...

    Looking for the wav

Primo is one of the best ever, definitely agreed. I also like the Terminator X/PrincePaul/DJ Too Tuff cuts, back when the DJ would get one song on an album to focus on his skills. I think probably half the people on illmuzik can scratch, it's just not that common on a producers site...

    Looking for the wav

First scratch record I ever bought was called "the ultimate scratch record", bought it at Grammaphone in Chicago for eight bucks, way way back in the day (that's also where I bought the 12" of T.R.O.Y. before the Mecca and the Soul Brother LP dropped). One side had all of the classic scratching...

    Serato Scratch Live = whoa!

I definitely want to get it at some point, definitely an excellent tool to have around the house. Scratch anything, immediately. Doubles of anything, immediately. Only drawback, the coded records make a high pitched sound, if you're listening to music quietly or have the volume turned down...

    Looking for the wav

Hey Relic, I googled the track, found the engineer (Martin Bisi), just sent him an email to see what he used. FYI, they recorded this track in Brooklyn back in 82. Homeboy still has a studio in BK, but records mostly alternative (Sonic Youth, etc)...

Yeah, I think Bambataa had the vocoder going, that ahhhh sample seams like a heavier effect. I'd like to know exactly what sort of effect it was....

    Looking for the wav

I think it's some english dude talking through a vocoder or talk box or filter bank(ala Peter Frampton), whatever it is, it's fucking cool. I'd love to find and use that effect on a track, then everyone would want to scratch whatever bullshit you can come up with.... definitely seek it out...

    top 100 list?

I think it's a pretty good list. Just one critic's choices. It's like ice cream, some like butter pecan, some like strawberry, it's all opinion at the end of the day. Good 100 albums though, a lot of good music in there.

    Is Hiphop REALLY Dead?

Right on Benny, agreed. Hollaatroy, it aint's East/West/South, this is a Global culture. Nas is trying to look at hip hop in a larger perspective. It's been around for 30 + years, and for the first twenty you had some positivity along with the party music. The last ten years it's been...
