    Yea I would start with the 1k if you are dead set on a hardware mpc, make sure you upgrade the os to jjos and it can take you far. Let us know what you do in the end and post your beats in the showcase. Good luck!

    Oh man going from the mpc app to an mpc2000xl is going to feel like you took a huge step back in time, and not in a good way. The 1k is a bit faster but not much, if you get a 1k make sure you put jjos on it. What's your budget for this and what are you trying to accomplish mainly?

    Yes Ren, Studio and Maschine require a computer. But you can turn off the screens and use the like they are standalone. But who cares if they need a computer, you need a computer to record vocals and to upload the beats to the internet.

    you need to let us know what version of cubase you are using, if its 64bit or 32bit etc. What are your system specs??

    yea the typical MPC crunch comes from the older models like the MPC60 or the MPC3000 they have lower PPQ and sample at 12bit vs 16bit. But I think with Maschine, Akai MPC Studio, Ablteon Live around old hardware MPC's are tough sells.

    One is not any grittier than the other. They both sample at 16bit 44.1 and have a similar ppq for the sequencer. Can I ask why are you looking at these two and not something more modern? I have owned MANY mpc2kxls and while I do love them, editing is so slow I doubt I could ever go back...
