@PhxAzTracmaster Dun: At first when the little horn stabs I was thinking Dre - What's the Difference. Then the mallets came in and I immediately felt like I was playing Goldeneye on my N64. The melody in the mallets is really cool and could lend themselves nicely to a more robust arrangement...

    Rubba - "Vector"

@cjcool Drums knock! I like grit and grain I hear on this. I like that you went dark almost Havoc/Mobb Deep with this. The stabs/staccato on the 8ths also do a lot to build both a rhythmic and harmonic foundation. This speaks to my preference in hip-hop a lot. Dope Filp!

Tomblr Beats: City Roulete Vol 2: Netherlands

ALL FIRE! Sorry to hear about your misfortunes in Amsterdam. Something similar happened to me in Barcelona when I was there for my 25th birthday :( I do really like this "beat making" meets "travel vlog" style of video. Maybe it's a personal taste, but as visual medium, some colour grading...

@2GooD Productions I like this short punchy bass. That particular bass tone always gives me trouble - which sucks, because it's a sound I really like but can never write well around it. There's an organ+string combo accent on certain down beats I almost missed...but certainly felt, as it added...

    Rubba - "Vector"

@2GooD Productions The second theme that comes in around 0:43 is quite nice. The first phrase seems a bit baron but is filled out nicely with the higher plucky elements around the 0:43 mark. Sound selection is great and all the elements work well together. There's this ghostly flute thing...

@WHAT1000 The beat lives up to it's name for sure. I kinda like the synth patch you used, but as mentioned, there's no real theme here. It sounds more like a collection of noodles rather than a coherent beat. I'm sure there's an idea somewhere in there, but it needs to be distilled and...

what's this wobbly rhythm thingy? (Go Getta - Chung)

Yeah, sounds like a ghost note kick maybe even reverse. To my ear it sounds like it’s layered with a scratch or reversed sample

Thanks @Armani I appreciate the feedback and insight on tone and texture. My background is blues/rock guitar so those moves kinda feel the most natural to me. I'm still reworking this piece and will make note of your points!

Thanks @hosie ! Ironically, my cutlery drawer is the least organized part of my house lol. I was like “how TF does he know I have a white desk?!” Then I remembered I posted a pic in the “Show Your Setup” thread. I whole heartedly agree with you on “reckless abandon” approach. Music is equal...

@Armani you got some played out 2001 style beats lying around the hard-drive do you? lol

    Tinker. Tailor. Beatmaker.

This! I recall watching a “how to process your drums” video and blindly was doing the same over compressed cookie cutter processing. It wasn’t until last fall I was like “you know what, let me just get the levels and gain staging right.” Made a huge difference. As a guitarist, the music theory...

    SHOWCASE: June 1-8, 2025

Started tracking into Logic last night. Good tip on bringing down the reverb on the pianos (keys in level in general). Took your delay idea in a different direction and put a filtered panning delay on the horn. May not have it run the whole way through, but I kinda like the added dimension it...

I typed this all up in Pages and pasted it, forgot to @ you. I will say, you're definitely living up the the "Ill OG" banner in your avatar. Coming in with a focus goes a long way. Especially for me, who isn't one of those "always inspired" creative types, I need to add some structure or goal...
