    vinyl is nice but I have no problem with other medias... If you use a computer to make beats, sampling CD's is really convenient.

    Kurtis blow's self titled album was released in 1980 and is "relatively" close to what you can hear today (an MC+DJ based music). Sugar Hill gang's "Rappers delight" was released a year before but is flirting with Rn'B but I agree with mucka , spoken word is technically close to rap.

    Are u refering to Johnny J ? For your info he's hispanic and far from whack ... He produced "POUR OUT A LITTLE LIQUOR", "ALL EYEZ ON ME", and "HOW DO YOU WANT IT" among others ... very soulful production. I'm still wondering how he flipped that O'Jays sample on "POUR OUT A LITTLE LIQUOR"

    Well not financially, but sometimes the artist seems really excited about getting your beat , pays for it and eventually .... never uses it ... which is really frustrating!

    What's your favorite city (other than the one you're from) ? as for me I'd have to say Boston,MA. It's neither too big nor too small (population: 600,000 downtown correct me if I'm wrong). A highly cultural city (colleges/museums), Beantown has definitively a unique student/college culture.

    Hm I use Acid as well but the order is different 1/ Program drums 2/ cut main sample 3/ cut secondary sample(s)/sound effect(s) 4/ I compose a bassline (if there's no bass in the primary sample) 5/ arrange the whole thing

    I got : - HP PC (pentium 4 1.5 ghz) - 2 ETP turntables - scratch mixer - pre-amp for turntables - ACID 3.0 - Goldwave - Terratec MIDI controller - some cheap Yamaha PSR keyboard - Canam Quartz AND OTHER things not worth mentionning !

    in my opinion everything that is mixed @ DND studio is damn near perfect (think of Premier, Beatminerz, etc...) but as voorheez MP said this is a very subjective subject matter.
