So I just found out about this guy Lewis Parker. He's been around for a while, and is based out of England. Some of you may already know him. He will be releasing an album soon, more on that later! Here's some clips.
K-Def was a fairly prolific producer, but his name is not as well known as most. Still, has made some amazing tracks throughout his career. Here's some of my favorites.
And more recently, he just put out an EP called "Night Shift" which I recommend everyone check out. It really shows...
So a friend of mine is looking for some headphones for basic production needs, but can only spend about 60$. I know it's not a lot of loot, but anything good with decent hi's and lows?
After months of searching for new hip-hop acts I'd never heard of, I've discovered so much good hidden talent that it just blows my mind. I check sites like bandcamp, various blogs, and man, there's just so much stuff out there. Sure there's some crap, but it's nice to dispel the myth that...
Alright, so for all you cats that like your hip-hop dark... and I mean pretty fucking evil dark, I introduce to you Parallel Thought / 3:33. An experimental hip-hop fit from Jersey. I'd never heard of them until this morning. And I can say this, listening to their music at 7:00 am is kind of...
Really nice group from Philly, only found out about them recently...

They have an album out, but I think it's only MP3... support!
Man, everyone needs to pick this shit up, it's on X-Box and PS3. I played an online game last night and won 53-49, although it was very close, the guy was on fire.. had me stressed. Anyways, everyone should check this out. Solid gameplay!

I sold my dusty ASR-10 and will be purchasing Maschine later this week. I am pumped, it's been years since I've made anything... can't wait!
I do have a valid reason for this post however. Right now my computer only has onboard sound, and am currently looking to get a soundcard. Can anyone...
Although I love digging for records, finding blues 78's is seemingly impossible, so I have to settle for CD's and shady mp3 files... but regardless, man, some blues music is insane. I know so little, but I have a feeling there's an endless stream of music to discover... anyways, some nice tunes...
And I had to share it with you guys.
I was on the way home from doing some groceries, and I look out the window from the car I'm in and what do I see....
A rasta driving a unicycle up a hill. I'm telling you, the most random shit I've ever seen in my life. No shot of it sadly... but that...
I went digging this afternoon for nothing specific. I came across a Digable Planets single "Where I'm From" at one spot, and picked up Apollo Brown's "Clouds" instrumental album. Both are very solid. I am impressed by Apollo Brown, really digging his production.
What have you guys found this...
Another solid release from 2010, this time by Roc Marciano, who is/was part of the U.N. Solely produced Marciano himself, the Marcberg album is very dark, with grimy beats and lyrics that compliment.
There is a lot of great hip-hop out there.
Just random tracks...
So I just discovered this album from 2010 by a group called The Left from Detroit. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The album is excellent, solid beats, good lyrics, and even better, the album has no filler. Just solid all around. I highly recommend everybody go and purchase this album...
A big fuck you to all those diggers who jack records from thrift shops by putting them all in one sleeve and then LEAVING the sleeves of the good records behind. Ya, fuck you for getting my hopes up finding good records and them finding a flimsy fucking sleeve. End rant.
Ok, well maybe not entirely, but the Jamaican Sound System played (and still does) a key role in getting music out to the people, everyone interested in hip-hop should watch this. Everyone knows Kool Herc brought the sound system style to NY, here's a chance to see what it is.
