Once Again I Have To Reiterate The Importance Of Regular Backups

Exactly why I invested in a NAS with two 16tb enterprise drives in it. I'd have gone for the 4 disk one but just the two drives were expensive enough. Automated backups of all my music stuff is a must.

    I did the unthinkable...

Definitely fits the halloween theme haha, nice bounce to it too.

At what point does sampling feel like stealing ?

The original was insanely popular before eminem got his hands on the beat that sampled it.

At what point does sampling feel like stealing ?

I mean at the end of the day, it is stealing, regardless of how you chop it up. But there's definitely degrees of egregiousness with it. If you're just cutting up a loop and slapping drums and a bassline over it, it's obviously less justified than chopping up parts, playing with pitch and...

Barbara Jean English - "You're Gonna Need Somebody to Love You"

Hah, nah, it doesn't happen for everything. Last thing I uploaded that this happened to got 200ish views in its first day, and then like 600 views in a week, and then dropped off dramatically, and also in my insights the views ended up getting removed (although it still showed it on the beat...

Barbara Jean English - "You're Gonna Need Somebody to Love You"

Thanks. I've tweaked it a bit, and added new loop of that weird pitch bendy synth to the 2nd section as well. I also took half of the first loop completely out of it so the changeup comes sooner. I have this habit of making verse sections 16 bars long every time, but for this particular case...

Barbara Jean English - "You're Gonna Need Somebody to Love You"

Here's what I got so far. I'll probably keep working on it, but I've grown bored with working on it for the time being. A hell of a lot slower this way but it's coming along. Like I said in the chat, RX 10 is fuckin awesome. I love being able to take any part from the beat and putting vocals...

Barbara Jean English - "You're Gonna Need Somebody to Love You"

What do you know, a few weeks later and I'm working on a beat haha. I will say though, I'm actually making an effort to play what I make in this one, and I think it's turning out pretty good so far.

    Beat This! Competition - September 20-21, 2023

Nice beats guys. Congrats to the old fucker who won. Honestly surprised the beat I voted for didn't make at least runner up, most of the other ones that did were the ones I was humming and hawwing over. Mine I kind of figured wouldn't make it after listening through em. I need to start...

Got my vote in, decent turnout this time around, don't think I got this one. Also, haven't jumped in on a comp in a while, I like the new UI for the voting page @Fade, nice and clean

Never mind AI... SciFi music making...!

Honestly i think a glove directed towards music making software would lend well to taking over the job of pads, using accelerometers in the fingers to A) produce the sound and B) tune velocity. You could make each finger represent a pad. Obviously it wouldn't be as useful as having a full pad...
