does anyone ever feel like giving up?

Lets see how I can explain this Kansas City Missouri is a real city. Downtown, sidewalks, parades, high crime rate (lol), asphalt on streets, indoor plumbing.......things like that. Dude making a sick beat with MPC

I love the drums on that 1st beat. I wasnt feelin' the chipmunk vocals though. I can think of some other vocal samples that would fit without that chipmunk effect. Loved the beat to death though

    Sample Kings?

They MPC was all sneezed on, dude started from the middle and then went to the beginning then left you hangin at the end. When I say hangin' I mean literally hangin ya self for buying or watching that shit. BUT thanks to Sample Kings, I now have a nice coaster on my desk and no more...

does anyone ever feel like giving up?

Man when I feel like that, I pull out the portable DVD and watch something thats gonna push me while I'm in the lab. I aint even gotta watch it, just listening to it is even better. dre interview (the half from cool & dre)

Those cats refuse to be put into a paticular sound or mode, examples of great producers. Its the reason alot of cats fall off because the sound gets so damn distinct they play they selves out.

    beat cds

I agree with everybody else. I got feedback the 1st couple of times I sent out music about my length. alot of people just want quick snippets, so come with your A game and dont jack around too much with building the beat up. Hell they might miss out on the hottest beat of the year because...

Curious to hear any beat sumone has made sampling herbie hancock

I got to dig a little deeper, all the vinyl that I copped of his has too much of that 80's synth sound I cant get with. I ran into the same problem with some Stanley Clark records too.

How do you know your beat is hot?

If I think I got one thats "the one", I cut it off........... go make some peach tea or hop on Madden for a minute. About 30-45 mins later I go back and press play. If its as hot as I thought it was the 1st time, I will get the same feeling if not better the 2nd time. Plus I REALLY know its...

    Shopping Your Beats

One resource I have found to be good is musicpowers.com. Yeah you gotta buy the book, but take it from a cat who has bought plenty of books, its worth it. It has unsolicited contact info and things that we as producers need to know before we even shop our lifes blood.

What would you do if someone jacked your beat?

I would do my best to ruin they azz like 50 did Ja Rule dogg. I'd make it to where they couldnt do a show at they family reunion without getting booed!

    Drums first?

Sounds like your on your way then. The only thing I have to say though is, dont come up with a good melody and then get lazy on the drums. Thats gonna be suicide to that melody for real.

Its Not Wha You Got But How You Use It

I know cats that have the whole basement decked out with errrrrrrthang you can imagine and churn out the corniest, mono tone, muffled up azz beats you ever heard. If you got you can make it happen with what you got, if not no matter what you got that azz is going to get exposed
