if you listen to the drums in seperate channels - some channels have a harder hitting sound, or less hi's or whatever it is you want. So I use the channel I prefer and make it mono. -

Quick ways to chop a sample?
I take one, two or more sections from a song. Perhaps 5-10 seconds depending on what I want. Load the .wav into Fruity Slicer, chop it as I like. Done. -
