    Kan Ogasawara - Helene's Theme

    Sooooooooo good.

    Sticky Beat This! Theme Suggestions

Either/or - it's a variation on the "Flip this" threads. Here's some audio, either a whole song or a snippet, make a beat out of it. There's some Rhythm Roulette episodes that do that, Andrew Huang has some "4 producers, 1 sample" vids that do it. Limitations breeding creativity and all that.

"Stuck on a desert island beat" - given a sample, create a track using nothing but that sample.

Fast forward about 50 years; the cyber attacks have knocked us all off the grid. We start driving down an abandoned road, and we're approached...

Bonus points if you know the sample and OG song I flipped. On the surface, sounds like a Dr. John or Tom Waits joint. But that's too obvious. Any hints?

“Meet The Loons” Boom Bap with Creepy A.I film in 1950s style

Yeah, those visuals are creepy - total uncanny valley, dude turns into George H. W. Bush at 1:05 and there are some other semi-recognizable faces :holyshit: The beat is great - samples work well together, the loon calls are a nice touch, levels are all good in earbuds.

Ride or Die Tonight Freestyle... looking for tips plz!

Rhymes are tight, beat is great. Only feedback is that it feels like the horns are missing a progression - they keep ascending and my ears are waiting for a change-up that never happens.

    Smooth NY Winter Vibe

Super smooth, held my interest throughout the beat, levels all sound great in headphones. Nice!

    Twofer

Thanks for listening and providing feedback @InsideOutBeats - yeah, for instrumentals I gravitate towards the stuff that I most enjoy listening to, which tends to be busy and raw - Madlib during his Beat Konducta days, Shabazz Palaces, Flying Lotus, Damu the Fudgemunk, etc.

    Beat This! Competition - December 27-28, 2023

@Fade - not disagreeing that there was a cache issue, did you also try unauthenticated vs authenticated (as a normal user)? Have been able to reproduce the issue on both mobile and desktop - mp3 path is fine without logging in and then reverts to yesterday's date after login.

    Beat This! Competition - December 27-28, 2023

Confirmed it's sending proper path via cmd line wget. Required a browser restart to clear cache on desktop, working now. * another correction - do you have separate templates for authenticated vs unauthenticated users? wget got the correct path as an unauthenticated user. Before logging in...

    Beat This! Competition - December 27-28, 2023

I had the opposite - it was working fine on mobile earlier, with the correct path cached. Now it's not working on mobile or desktop after refreshing. <audio class="illaudio" preload="none" controls> <source src="https://www.illmuzik.com/data/ill/bthis/beats/beat4_20231227.mp3"...

Looks fine to me * correction - layout is fine but player isn't working for both desktop and mobile @Fade It's throwing 404s based on https://www.illmuzik.com/data/ill/bthis/beats/beat[ID]_20231227.mp3

Too late - a beat made from scraps

Normally I start a beat by digging, either finding some new (to me) shit online or in my crates, then once I've got a few bars I chop 'em up and start building around them. It's all pretty intentional and iterative. Not this time. This time, I wanted to work within constraints. So I limited...

"I'll have you down on your knees begging for more" (aka a song for Fade)

I like your stuff Dusty - you've definitely got your own style. Chorus is great, kept me interested every time it came around. As an instrumental, the verse felt a bit repetitive - but if the plan is to have someone rhyme over this beat then all good!
