    Akai/Alesis/Numark is working on www.mpc500.com , a rumour started with the release of 2500 seems to take shape! I have no clue whatsoever except for this page, perhaps it will be a sequencer a la ASQ-10 so an mpc without sampler.

    cuz its hooked to Max/msp, the OS itself is open source so each button does what you want it do which eventualy to a point means making beats with just the 16x16, its a seq, mixer, pattern editor whatever.

    Downside...44bit/16bit, but good converters though. There's one feature the mpc4k lacks which is recording while playing but i dont think really weighs up to the mpc4k's better engine and converters.
