    Eq'ing before hand is/can be good but from a mixing point of view i'd advice to keep the eq neutral. This is to stay in terms of non destructive editing/mixing once youve tracked the mpc which gives you better control of the mix opposed to mixing on the mpc itself. Not saying it cant be done...

    Since youre in the uk, look up soundtracs topaz project 8 24/24/8 inline console. They come with or without meterbridges, easy to maintain british eq's. But it might be better if you have an estimate on your budget, so many solutions possible :) Also what interface are you using overthere ?

    No disputing the 1200's, they're build like a tank, i got 3 of em and 2 are over 20 years old and still maintaining... On a budget i'd go for vestax pdx tt's. Imo, best mixer on a budget would be a vestax pro 6 (t mixer), with or without innofader. Cheapest i/o for tt's, get NI scratch duo 2
