How successful are you on Beatstars?

haha. I've actually been thinking about having YT be my primary (since it's YT...) and then maybe creating a gumroad account since I have more control, especially since I sample a lot so any contracts and agreements with folks I work with will have to state that the rate is based on my time as a...

How successful are you on Beatstars?

How successful are you on Beatstars or Airbit? I've been contemplating creating an account, mostly because I don't want to grind and grind but want to focus on having fun making beats (hence why I only have a YT right now). But obviously if I could make a little bit of money to cover the cost of...

Diggin Thru Crates Is A Habit

What's up! I need to get back into digging records. I don't even own a record player anymore. Just Spotify & Spytify. I'm a sell out.

you say this to me all the time, I thought it was part of the initiation here.

    Interlude type beat?

I wanted to try something different, so this is a bit of a homage to my OG "DJ" days, aka when I was first starting to mess around with music at 10 years old by rearranging premade loops. I had no idea what mixing was or really much of anything then, I just liked rearranging the sounds I had. So...

    New beats in progress

Same, I usually make beats at night and I can usually get 80% or so in the 10pm-midnight ish block. Then lately I've been finishing the mix throughout the day in between my day job. For me I've learned that if things just aren't flowing after that first session, probably best to just toss it or...

    New beats in progress

Falling is really cool but it's missing something, I can't pinpoint it. But I started losing interest after the intro as I felt the intro was the most exciting part. Could be more energy in the drum pattern. You and Me is really smooth and I could see a rapper/singer type going crazy on this...

Tomblr: Fog Around (Boom Bap Beat)

I really like when the Piano comes in. It fills out the melody and I think completes the beat. I think having the low piano run throughout with some variations as needed would be dope.

DJ Premier ft. COMMON - In Moe (Speculation)

yeah that's fair. I have a feeling they won't just disappear. He's too big to eventually have that shit released (if it exists) because it'll make a ton of money. Maybe 40 years from now when he passes his kids or whoever takes over his label will release haha. is there a list of all the...

    One Of My Beat

How did you get linked up with the promoter? Sorry for all the questions, just curious of folks journey's and how they met the people they needed to meet to monetize their craft!

    Piano + Heavy Metal Guitar??!!

I originally had 808 layered with the drum every bar, but it wasn't really coming through properly. So I tried filling out the drums and leveraging the natural lows of the piano/guitar (plus the deep real snare). Let me know what you think, welcome any and all feedback!

    One Of My Beat

This is awesome man. Love the classic west coast sounds in this, like the synth that comes ~0:20. I prefer deeper low ends but hey gotta do what Ms. Toi likes! Out of curiosity, how did you get connected with her?

DJ Premier ft. COMMON - In Moe (Speculation)

I have a lot of respect for Premo and he may even itch out the win as it relates to the impact and influence on hip-hop. But I think Dre > Premo for making hip-hop mainstream and what it is today. I don't think many non-die hard folks would know Premo if it wasn't for Dre (i.e. popularizing...

    late flip

Drums are great. I don't mind the compressed snare, though maybe a hair of reverb or delay would put a bow on it. I don't mind the repeating chords either, but agree with Kane that it could benefit from a change, even bringing in another layer or something. I liked how the beat changed at ~1:35...

Thanks for listening! Glad you liked it. I do a lot of downtempo stuff too, so it was fun making this one.

    Snoop Dogg quits weed.

haha. I was hoping it was to amp up Missionary album... I was praying that the release would come with a bunch of photos and videos of him and Dre high as F and just saying we were just playing around and high when we said that, go listen to Missionary! haha

    Spoils of Demise

This is cool man. I like the panned hats a lot (though the volume is a little low). Drums are cool and kick is deep. I don't like the high-pitch synth, it was a little annoying to my ears, but the bars around 2:15 were my favorite part and thought it sounded pretty clean.
