i own an mpc 1000 have done since they were released pretty much i dnt use it much i rather use reason then pro tools i use it mainly as a trigger for my drums ! i find it really basic and time consuming for wot i want to do, i dnt know whether its me bcoz obviously so many ppl rave about them... -

i mean im not sure if you listened to the original track which is called 'one night affair' by the stylistics i think ! if you listen to that its pretty easy to see how he did it its mainly a loop with a few chops for the chorus its not one of his more complicated beats ! -

well yea the reason it sounds phat when it kicks in is bcoz they put a high pass filter on it for the intro so you dont get any bass coming thru so it sounds like a radio or woteva ! then when the track comes in they take the filter off and will put some EQ on the sample to beef it up a bit ... -

free drums reason
i use redrum a lot for my drums and a lot of people have compimented me on my drum programming and sounds if you learn re-drum theres no limit really, or just get a trigger finger or sumthing and tap the beat out on them ! -
