The Producer : The Slave Of Sample?

see, thats the thing. just because you sample doesnt mean you stick to the basics. many samplers take the music to the same creative heights as composers. Sampling doesnt just mean looping up a sample and adding drums to it. Think about all the aspects of hip hop culture that are intrinsically...

The Producer : The Slave Of Sample?

^ i feel you composed music isnt even traditional hip hop, IMO. ill listen to any arguments to the contrary, but from the beginning this music has been sampled. Think about the beginning of hip hop... djs playing breaks for parties, mcees holding the mic.... purely live, completely derivative...

The Producer : The Slave Of Sample?

^ word i didnt mean to attack composers or anything, merely protect samplers. I sample because thats how almost every song that i like was made. so i strive to make music i like. not feeling most of the composed songs out there.

    Written Drums

umm.. no? if you really want that information about songs, just listen to the song and write it out yourself. if you cant do that, (identify the different drum sounds and the rythm they hit in a song) then you should sell all your equipment tomorrow and quit. Im sure you can manage that...

Label I work for has a new project for me

damn, thats about as good as it gets right there. did they ask you to give them a certain number of tracks from those samples? or specific tracks they want you to flip (you dont have to name any dont worry, lol). or were they just like "heres some samples we happened across...

    Lsd

I lose my attentions span completely on anything more than weed or alcohol... tried to make a beat on shrooms and i was just sitting there playing one snare sound for literally an hour... it was cool though. Making beats isnt really a social thing for me, drugs are.
