    you don't need recycle or soundforge to make good sample based beats. i'm sure there are still alot of people on here chopping samples in the mpc edit window which is a whole hell of a lot less powerful then either of the programs you are talking of

    SENNHEISER E835 has a wider frequency response sounds less 'wooly' than the sm58 and has a 10 year warranty. i have a sm58 and an e835 (as well as a shure b3.1 and adk a-51) the e835 is the best dynamic mic i have for vocals. can be had for about $60 us on ebay

    events are good. deeper bass than moss other cheap monitors having accurate bass is very important for mixing hip hop. just my 2 sense. i use event 20/20s (passive) with an alesis ra-100 amp

    g'day light. pro tools isn't best suited for work with midi and it's vst plugin implementation is poor. you are best off using sonar or nuendo with your controller. pro tools full version included is not suited for midi sequencing or vsti's etc.
