Utilizing Chopped Samples
Learn to only work with .Wav files, as they are uncompressed audio and is the standard format among many samplers. .aif if on mac (which you are) -
The MPC 5000 flop....
Interesting, he ripped akai a new one. Akai has had some issues in programming on the 1000 and the 2500 from what I've heard. Hence third party OS'. didn't know the 5k was THAT bad though, sheesh. -

Ooooh, my bad in the first post it said something about an mpc, then the 5th post said mpk only, gotcha. But yea, Rewire is probably your best bet, its a really seamless interface, but it sounds too technical to rewire one program to the other (and it will look just so on the reason interface)... -

in recycle go to file>export slices as wav. might not be exactly like that, its been a while, but thats it. Then just save em in a directory of your choice, then: 1. load them into ur mpc or 2. load them into your virtual sampler/drum machine. cheers. -

Good point! This is almost inevitable if you're mixing for a long period of time (which most likely is the case), a good way to catch yourself is to take a 10-15 minute break and go wash the dishes or anything else. Give your ears a rest and come back to it, it might sound totally... -
condenser mics
good equipment def makes the differnece, but i rock a cheap MXL 990 mic and my quality isn't too bad. Just develop a relationship with your mixing board (or digital mixer on screen) some mixing and mastering tips from the resources section =] -
