Korg Padkontrol, MPD 24 or MPC500

i dont know about the padkontrol...that was my first drumpad and i thought it was cool at the time until i got a real mpc, and there's really no comparison even just in feel. the pads on the padkontrol are very sensitive but also way too hard, i would really recommend going the mpc route.

how many hours in the lab?

as i said in my first post the reason for the survey was mainly that i saw a similar poll on future producers and wanted to see how illmuzik stacked up. a lotta people on here talk down on fp (myself included sometimes), so i wanted to see if we're really in a position to talk. relic i do...

    FUTURE OF PRODUCTION? Open Labs...

ash is right man...there is absolutely no comparison between softsynths and real analogue VA's. moog, andromeda, virus...you simply cannot get that sound out of software. there also wouldn't be motif emulations because the motif doesn't synthesise, it is a rompler, very diff things.

how many hours in the lab?

first off props to cleverwon for keeping it real and admitting hes got a ghostproducer lol. thats that real shi* right there. i hear what a lot of ppl are saying about school, its a grind man. i'm about to finish my BA at a unversity in a month and after that i'll be doing this full time...

    FUTURE OF PRODUCTION? Open Labs...

u right man, my bad. i mean do you homie, its your studio. i just personally think this neko thing is really only ideal for a traveling pro producer. you get that mac pro and you've got a completely scalable piece of hardware and 64 bit processing (i believe on the mac pro you can replace...

    FUTURE OF PRODUCTION? Open Labs...

as i said, especially if you go the normal pc route, you can get what kojo described, with way more than double the ram, storage, and way more processing power for about half that top of the line neko.

    FUTURE OF PRODUCTION? Open Labs...

Neko 64 with a single Opteron 64-bit 1.4GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, an 80GB hard drive, CD-RW, software bundle and touchscreen; US $5495 (£2970). Neko 64 with dual Opteron 64-bit 1.4GHz processing, 512MB of RAM, an 80GB hard drive, CD-RW, software bundle and touchscreen; US $6000 (£3240)...

    FUTURE OF PRODUCTION? Open Labs...

kojo said it perfectly, the neko is only really useful if you're touring and need everything you have in your studio on the road. by the way tim does not use the neko at his home studio, he uses it for road purposes. tim still only uses an asr-10 and a m audio ozonic for midi in his home...

    mAc or mPc?

dude get the imac- u can get an mpc for cheap later on, but a good 24 inch imac is like close to a 2,000 professional computer...that thing is extremely powerful.

Enhance Your Reason Tracks With Stereo Separation

stereo separation is very good but there's a couple of things you want to keep in mind... don't stereo separate everything. stereo separation creates a higher degree of masking (obscures other elements of your mix) the wider and louder sounds are stereo spread (i.e. spreading some backing...

how many hours in the lab?

I saw a similar poll on Future Producers recently and i'm curious to see how illmuzik compares, so... how many hours a week, on average, are you working on your music (or improving it i.e. sitting down and learning the piano, etc)? on average means what you really do consistently- not during...

    Focus of Aftermath Makes Beat

the hate on this forum is strong right now. its amazing how people automatically take the view of "wow he's ghost produced every dre song" instead of "damn dude how much are u gonna jock the style dre himself created?" focus hasn't even been in the studio for most of dre's recent work. and...

    Problem AGAIN

dude he said he already has musical training, thats why he started the thread! his whole problem is that he knows scales and all this stuff but has trouble just making a nice hip hop track, and after we explained to him that he needed to stop focusing so much on theory, his response was he was...

    Problem AGAIN

dude thats the point...stop thinking about scales and about all this stuff and make shi* that bangs and that sounds good. thats the problem...hip hop isn't about scales its about the energy and emotion you bring to a track. there are a lot of big hip hop tracks that have nothing to do with...

justin roelofs is the only one pushing the envelope at the moment

personally i thought popozao was pushing the envelope, that shi* changed modern music. keven federline broke down his walls and knows no musical boundaries. i dunno this ain't really my thing man, but if u like it i can see the creativity in it.

Motif ES 8 or Motif ES6?

one just has more keys, the es8. if you have the money for it, it would make sense to get that one.

    Problem AGAIN

how long you been making beats for man? its not like u can just jump into it and be dre... second you gotta realize a lot of good producers are born with innate musical training. you could train all you want, and you'll never be able to have timbaland's rhythm...and theres a lot of...

    The New Motif XS...Nice!

ash thats good to know cause i'm big on tweaking and creating more custom sounds so i guess i need to take that into account. the m3 does seem like its got some pretty deep features as far as customizing and layering goes so maybe i'll go test that thing out. how sick is the oasys btw...the...

How do I hookup a motif/andromeda to logic?

yeah that project mix is pretty nice, im definitely going to think about that if i go the pt route. the one thing thats making me lean towards the fireface is i've heard the sound quality and conversions are top of the line, so i gotta take that into account i think. anyway whenever i decide...
