    for sampling: any direct drive would do. the cartridge is what counts. for scratching: Technics all the way. You can get an used Tech 1200 for $200 on ebay.

    not counting the records, my dream setup within a reason would be an EMU SP1200 + Akai S950 and a pair of Technics. I've already have the latter two, and I'm saving up for an SP. I'll be content with that setup.
